Agents Of SHIELD “Inescapable” Review

Season 6 episode 6 “Fitz and Simmons have fought through space, time and alternate realities to find each other, and now, closer than ever, only their own demons can stop their mission.”

What Was Good?

1. We find out what Altarah has instore for Fitz and Jemma. They are in a prison which they seemingly can’t escape from. Altarah tells the pair that their minds and memories are now shared and the prison can create what they think they will need to solve time travel.

Fitz purposes to Jemma right off the bat, the pair celebrate thinking of tea, cakes and just relaxing. The duo end up talking about the future where Jemma went to and how did she manage to get back. This causes Fitz to start working on a solution and this leads to the two having a argument which lasts most of the episode. Fitz comes to release that the prison isn’t real but the duo are actually trapped inside their minds.

2. Jemma tries her best to distract Fitz because she doesn’t want to tell him about his future self and what happened to him soon as they returned from the future, this is where the argument comes into the episode. The prison starts to show Fitz Jemma’s memory of the SHIELD crew taking Fitz body back to the HQ. Fitz starts looking around and eventually opens up a body bag which contains his dead body, He panics and finds out Coulson was sick for a while and eventually died.

The pair have a argument which leads to Jemma thinking about an escape which she does, she heads into a memory of her being a child in her room, she has a ballerina box on her desk which opens up releasing a demon she had locked away as a child. The demon then starts chasing the pair around their memories which leads them into a memory of meeting Coulson for the first time.

3. As Jemma and Fitz are getting chased by the demon, another past villain comes into the memories.., It’s Fitz alter-ego Leopold one of the heads of HYDRA from the framework. He starts hunting the duo, eventually managing to capture Jemma and begins to wipe her memories while the Demon captures fitz and starts torturing him. Enoch eventually betrays his own people and saves both Fitz and Jemma.

What Was Bad?

1. While the episode was good in terms of the duo figuring out the prison and getting chased by their past demons.. the entire episode was about those two and it dragged. It had no Earth scenes with Sarge and May except a 2-4 minute clip of Mack filling in Quake as to what’s happened.

Holy Shit Moment

The Holy Shit Moment of the episode was Leopold and the demo torturing Jemma and Fitz, Leopold was wiping Jemma’s memories while the demo quite literally cut out Fitz heart. The duo both manage to say the same things and think of help which the prison sent them help in the form of their friends, Mack and Daisy. The Duo manage to find their way back to each other realizing that they were quite literally made for each other like the Yin and Yang symbol.

The Verdict

Nearly a full uninteresting episode.. Focused far to much on two characters which dragged the episode on. No Earth scenes which sucked and the Sarge story got put on the back burner.
