Star Wars: The Bad Batch “Bounty Lost” Review

Season 1 Episode 9 “The Batch embark on a rescue mission.”

What I Liked?

1. The episode once again starts off with a ship battle, we see the Bad Batch trying to escape the wrath of Crosshair, who’s firing relentlessly on them, nearly shooting them down, I absolutely love the visuals on the flying scenes in this series, they are hands down the best flying animation in all of the animated Star Wars projects.

2. Next we come to learn that the Kaminoan Prime Minister has ordered Cad Bane to retrieve Omega, he wants to extract her DNA and then wants to terminate Omega, we finally learn what makes Omega so special, it’s her DNA, it’s a perfect match to Jango Fett and the only other person who has this much of a perfect genetic match is a clone named Alpha AKA Boba Fett. This basically confirms that Omega is basically Boba Fett’s sister which is a unique direction to the character of Omega and the story of the Fett’s.

3. Fennec Shand returns and gets the drop on the Kaminoan who she kills, takes the credits, and then gets into a shootout with Cad Bane, at first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about this scene as Fennec Shand is a new character, and she’s getting the best of Cad Bane a legendary Bounty Hunter who has no issue with killing a Jedi.

4. This next point I liked simply because it was the “father figure” coming out in Hunter when the Bad Batch finally gets Omega back. He truly cares for Omega and so he has to be the one who tells Omega about why the Kaminoan really wants Omega because she’s valuable and they only want the DNA inside her.

What I Disliked?

Nothing to report this week.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment this week was simply Fennec Shand seemingly protecting Omega and getting into a fistfight with Cad Bane, the fight seemingly went back and forth, but ultimately Fennec Shand got the best of the fight, and manages to tie Bane up and disable his ship.

Standout Character

Fennec Shand fully deserves it this week, she came in, got into a shootout and a fistfight with one of the top 2 Bounty Hunters in the galaxy, and basically won.

The Verdict

This episode definitely felt like a filler episode, we didn’t get any Bad Batch action but the action between Cad Bane and Fennec Shand made up for that, the story and reveals were all great and well needed.
