It just feels like every other day, Warner Bros. are trending on Twitter for some reason that seems to aggravate fans.
Whether it’s Amber Heard, Ray Fisher, Zack Snyder, it just feels like Warner Bros. can never get it right with their DC universe.
Ray Fisher speaks up about bullying in the workplace alongside racism which is at the center of attention as of late which it should be – he’s fired from The Flash movie. Now, I know we don’t know the ins and outs, but I believe in Ray. That’s my opinion only.
Then Amber Heard with evidence stacked against her in regards to domestic abuse is allowed to freely walk back into Aquaman 2. Now, I am one to say nobody should be found guilty unless it’s done in the correct way, but it should have been backburned until this situation between Heard and Depp is resolved.
Then there’s Zack Snyder, the decisions with their universe that just never makes sense. If you love or hate Zack Snyder, you cannot fault his vision for what he wanted to do with the DC Extended Universe, and again, love or hate his version of the Justice League but it proved he has a great vision of the DCEU’s potential.
Now, don’t get me wrong – I will ALWAYS support DC, even if some of the decisions are questionable, but the untapped potential DC has far outweighed Marvel’s, but how are Marvel getting it so right?
Well, listening to fans, roadmaps, great cast choices, building a vision years down the line helps but it also feels like Disney and Marvel Studios can’t put a foot wrong at the moment, especially with their TV series on Disney+.
But let’s look at DC, they release most of their major releases on HBO Max that’s not available in most countries, we have no idea what’s coming besides the 5 movies we know of (Black Adam, Shazam, The Flash, Batman & Aquaman 2).
With Marvel, TV shows aside (that they’re overseeing as well mind) – we have Black Widow, Shang-Chi, The Marvel’s, Spider-Man 2, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, Eternals, and Thor. Plus, not to mention movies that have been announced, these are just movies that are a year or two away.
I’m not writing this article to have a dig at Warner Bros. as much as it may seem like it, I really just want them to listen to the outcries of fans who are just begging for better.
We’ve had glimpses of excellence and signs that things will be at a stage where they can comfortably compete with Marvel – then something happens, and it’s just so sad to see.
The DC Universe app had so much potential, but they just couldn’t push it in the right direction, and not releasing the streaming service worldwide caused it to fail.
Shows such as Titans, Doom Patrol, and Stargirl are all amazing – and were done with such care in a brand new extended TV universe. It’s not like they don’t have the pulling power either.
All I want is just a roadmap, with things done with proper diligence and something the fans want.
