As many of you are now aware, Disney purchased the rights from Fox back for a massive $71.3 billion. A lot of speculation has since been questioned as to how it’s all going to turn out for the MCU. The X-Men and the Fantastic Four now have the opportunity to be rebooted and now be included into the MCU. How they plan to insert that into action is a question, and a theory for another day.
What about Deadpool?
Chris Hemsworth recently just welcomed Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Instagram. We later learned that Deadpool will not be rebooted, and will continue as he has been. I know myself, I was worried that at some point we may never see Ryan Reynolds don the suit again, this has relieved a lot of people’s worries when the merger took place. Both Deadpool movies have been a massive success, and it’s been amazing to see. More so on Ryan Reynolds, who has absolutely made the character on the big screen. If one character deserves to continue, it really is him.
What about the Dark Phoenix?
As far as we are aware, the movie will still take place on the original release date, that being 6th June 2019. I will go as far to say this may be the last theatrical release of any X-Men movie made by Fox. Especially after learning that the X-Men cast, and movies will be rebooted down the line.
What about the New Mutants?
Another movie that is still up in the air, but again, as far as we are concerned the movie will still go ahead. Although the movie has been pushed back several times to ensure the movie has a more serious scare factor, we’re unsure of how this one is going to pan out. There has also been rumours circulating the web as always, that this movie will be straight to DVD. Whether or not that happens, I’m sure we will find out at some point. Personally though, I was never excited, or even remotely interested in this movie from the beginning (I’m not a fan of horrors if you haven’t already guessed), but any news we get, we will be sure to let you know.
Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine?
We can all imagine, right? I wish. At this moment Hugh is still retired as Wolverine. Although Ryan Reynolds is constantly pushing for him to return, however at this stage Jackman has not budged one bit. Even the after credits scenes from Deadpool 2 show this more so than ever. I’m sure Disney will keep the door open for him, if he did wish to return. I just want to see him rock that yellow classic suit, we got a glimpse of it but never actually saw it happen.
Hugh Jackman did state in an interview a while ago, that he would consider returning to the role if the X-Men was part of the MCU, which it now is. So, what are you waiting for, Hugh? Here’s a sick picture of Wolvie donning the new Avengers suit. Even if it’s just a cameo, people would go crazy for it!
And there you have it. Most of the questions answered. We are expecting to see the introduction of the former Fox characters by 2021. However, would it be much to ask for to get Ryan to create a quick cameo for EndGame? Just to create that excitement that surrounds this entire deal?
