Keeping The Suicide Squad train rolling leading up to the release of the movie, we’ve spoken about a couple of different things involving the movie, the excitement, and the hype surrounding it. Each day close to release, I get more excited to see the movie.
In this article, I want to speak about the character suit designs and rank each one according to what I personally think is the worst to best in the upcoming movie, simply because of the number of characters used in the movie. While I like all the suit designs, I do think there are some better than others.
15. Mayling Ng as Mongal
Mongal is a character that I’m not familiar with, I’ve always thought her design was, I don’t want to see bad, but odder. It looks like you can tell that it’s fake, it’s make-up, although I am interested to see what she does throughout the movie.
14. Flula Borg as Javelin
Another character, another uniquely odd suit. Javelin’s suit is a literal cosplay suit. I do believe that he may be one of the Suicide Squad members who unfortunately gets killed throughout the movie, I do actually like his suit, although it is number 14.
13. Nathan Fillion as T.D.K
This suit design is similar to Javelin, I like it but it’s in the lower end on my ranked list, while the suit detail is decent and you can make out clearly his logo, while the helmet covers his face, you can still tell it’s Nathan Fillion in the suit which is a plus.
12. Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag
Rick Flag in the first Suicide Squad movie had so a great army-esque design, he was a very much military look and feel to him, while I understand the character is pretty much laid back and more fun, his design and just basic, this combat pants with the bright yellow t-shirt is not it.
11. Michael Rooker as Savant
I actually like the design for Savant, I like how his suit is simple yet, you can tell it’s a super-suit. Michael Rooker actually pulls the suit off really well in photos/teases released for the movie, plus seeing Michael Rooker with a wig on is hilarious.
10. Peter Capaldi as The Thinker
Surprisingly, James Gunn and his team have actually pulled off The Thinker’s look and design incredibly well, it is like it’s ripped straight from the source material, I hope with CGI and VFX effects around Peter in the movie will make this suit design even better.
9. Sean Gunn as Weasel
Sean Gunn deserves all the praise in the world for what he does in and on movie sets from Rocket Raccoon to now Weasel, I absolutely love the design for Weasel, it’s creepy, ugly, and disgusting, it is perfect. Well done to the crew who had to CGI this character.
8. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
Margot Robbie is finally back as Harley Quinn, throughout her time in the DCEU Harley has always maintained somewhat of a perfect look, depending on the movie, this is not changing in this movie, her suit that you see in the picture below reminds me of the Arkham video-game, Harley.
7. Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang
Jai Courtney has an upgraded look in this movie in my personal opinion. In the first Suicide Squad he had a simple design, so seeing him with an upgraded design is amazing in my opinion. His new look is so similar to how I would imagine him in the comics.
6. David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man
Surprisingly, one of my favorite, funny, weird designs for the entire movie, it’s so dumb that it’s amazing and David Dastmalchian pulls it off incredibly well. I absolutely love this design. Hands down one of the best suit designs in the entire movie, I thought I’d hate this but no, I love it to the point I went out and bought the Funko Pop.
5. Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2
Another absolutely weird suit design, this reminds me of something from the med-evil times, its crazy, yet I’m completely drawn to this suit, the character, and the powers that come with the character, I also believe Daniela Melchior will absolutely kill this role.
4. Pete Davidson as Blackguard
When Pete Davidson was initially announced as a cast member, I thought, “Hmm, this is a weird casting, who’s he going to be”. Well, he’s Blackguard, his design is completely changed from comic to live-action, and in my opinion, for the best, his original design had red/pink long hair, just weird (in a bad way).
3. John Cena as Peacemaker
I’ve seen many people complain and make fun of John Cena’s Peacemaker suit in this movie but I actually really, really like it. It’s oddly satisfying to look at, especially the “toilet bowl” on his head. Plus Cena actually suits this more simple yet elegant design.
2. Sylvester Stallone as King Shark
While only voicing the character of King Shark, the design they’ve chosen for the CGI model for King Shark is outstanding. I’m a huge lover of any shark, so seeing this design is incredible. It’s completely different from what we’re used to seeing for King Shark.
1. Idris Elba as Bloodsport
I will admit, I didn’t ever hear about Bloodsport before this movie was announced. While there was a bit confusion on who Idris was playing, we finally got confirmation it was Bloodsport, and my god, his suit design is hands down the best design in this entire movie in my opinion.
While the suits in this movie are all incredible, this is my list from worst to best, I can not wait to see all of these characters in action when I’m able to watch the movie myself, I’m excited and when I see more stuff about it I get even more hyped.
