Spider-Man – Ranked Worst to Best

Fresh off the heels of an incredible trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, I decided I wanted to rank some of the Spider-Men many fans have seen over the years that we’ve been getting Spider-Man content, from animation to live-action to comics, and beyond.

In no way, shape, or form is this list a 100% set in stone list, this is my own personal list, which will obviously differ depending on the person or fan of not only Spider-Man but Peter Parker as well, this list will be a mix from all of the above mentioned so let’s dive right into the list.

8. 90’s Animation Spider-Man

The 90’s Spider-man cartoon was a huge part of my childhood, I grew up watching this Spider-Man cartoon, it’s what got me into being a fan of the character, I loved everything about the cartoon to the point where I can still remember some of the characters and episodes, it’s a nostalgia thing I suppose. I think this was such a great version of Spider-man, although I didn’t truly care for the version of Peter, I do believe this is one of the better cartoons focused on Spider-Man.

7. Comics Spider-Man

Everyone knows the comics version of characters is somewhat different from the movie versions of the characters, I’m not too interested in the comics version of Peter, although Spider-Man in the comics has had crazy stories and adventures, I just don’t truly care for the character in the comics.

6. Ultimate Spider-Man Cartoon

A few years back I was bored and was looking for something to find to watch, I accidentally stumbled across this version of Spider-Man on YouTube so I decided to watch a few episodes of the cartoon, unknowingly this would end up leading me into watching the entire show from the beginning, I absolutely loved this iteration of the character, I believe it nailed the high school Peter Parker as well as absolutely nailing the Spider-Man side of it, not to mention the forth wall breaking was amazing.

5. Tobey Maguire Spider-Man

The original live-action Spider-Man, a fan-favorite version of the character but for me, I only truly got the Spider-Man side of this version, I don’t believe for a second that Tobey nailed the Peter Parker side of the character, for sure, he nailed the Spider-Man side of the character, but he isn’t the best version in my opinion.

4. Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Man

Arguably a Spider-Man no one expected to see happen. When I first saw the trailer for Into the Spider-Verse, I initially didn’t like this version of the character, but when I watched the movie, I completely understood who, and what this version was, and it was done incredibly well, this is a version of Peter which is absolutely broken throughout the movie, this leads into a depressed Spider-Man, Jake Johnson voiced this really well.

3. Sony Playstation Spider-Man

This was a version of this character which absolutely nailed both Peter and Spider-Man, this was a version of Peter who has grown up being Spider-Man which is dealing with life, Mary Jane, Aunt May, and more, as well as being Spider-Man who has been Spider-Man for years and has pretty much done everything. I got some Andrew Garfield vibes from this version.

2. The Amazing Spider-Man

To truly nail a character that pretty much has two persona’s, you have to portray both sides of the character and Andrew Garfield did just that, I fully believe he’s one of the better Peter Parker live-action portrayals there has been, he also nailed the Spider-Man side of the character as well, not to mention, he had some of the nicest suits in live-action.

1. Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man

Hands down, everyone’s favorite version of the character, we’ve seen Tom Holland portray both Peter and Spider-Man for multiple films and he’s done it insanely well, but this isn’t why I put him at the number 1 spot, I put Tom’s version of the character here simply because he’s absolutely brought the ultimate Spider-Man to live-action and absolutely nailed it. I can not wait to see more of this version.

There it is, this is my top 8 iterations of the Spider-Man character in all forms of content in which I think stand out for one reason or another. Some of the characters deliver spectacular (pun intended) versions of the character which give great portrayals for both Spider-Man and the Peter Parker side of the character.
