Let's TalkMarvelMovies

Could Spider-Man: No Way Home Suffer From The Overhype?

It’s the most talked-about movie right now. After the trailer smashed records, even defeating the hugely popular Avengers: Endgame.

It’s safe to say the movie is absolutely packed with rumors, which is obviously what is fueling the hype for it, and the rumors even despite some of them being debunked, are still rumored.

Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are set to reprise their roles as Spider-Man. Charlie Cox is set to return as Daredevil. Miles Morales has reportedly been cast. Kirsten Dunn and Emma Stone will be joining as their respective roles as Mary-Jane and Gwen Stacey. Also rumours of Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Honestly, these are the major ones but the list is massive.

So you’ve got all of these rumours, despite Deadpool and Wolverine, the others seem like they’re definitely likely to happen given that we will be seeing aspects of the multiverse.

This is already adding to the absolute stacked roster with the movie. We know we’re getting the Sinister Six, Doctor Strange and others.

But, the old age question people keep asking is are they true, and if not, will the movie suffer as a result?

Personally, if the above rumours turn out to be untrue, I don’t think it will take anything away from the movie and it will be a masterpiece nonetheless.

Given how strong the rumors are, I do believe if the movie doesn’t include the previous 2 Spider-Man at the very least, I do think the movie will be bombed as a result.

I have no doubt the movie is going to smash records post-Covid, but given how strongly the internet can react when things go different is a separate matter entirely.

The vast majority of us do know that these are rumors, and are in no way guaranteed, but we will enjoy the movie for the fact it’s a Spider-Man movie in the MCU. I can imagine there is a minority of people EXPECTING all of this to happen and will be pissed if it doesn’t.

I will be slightly disappointed if it doesn’t because the idea of a multi-verse live-action Spider-Man has always been something I’ve wanted. I actually wrote an article on this last year that I’d love for the 3 live-action actors to all come together in a movie. You can read that article here.

So whilst I’ll be a bit let down, I still wouldn’t take anything away from the movie. I trust the executives and Feige who have done such a wonderful job with the MCU over the last 13 years to ensure the movie is a monumental success.

Despite the rumors, true or not, I think it will be. And given how people have reacted to the news, it’s likely if this doesn’t happen then I suspect it may be in the pipeline.

I also believe if they are in the movie, even the next and final trailers won’t show us this. This will be saved for the movie itself.
