What I Liked
1. Agatha’s continued sarcasm is hilarious. It’s so obnoxious I love it. Joe asks her to write something down and she pulls the pen out of the glove box and throws it out of the window. It’s so petty it’s great.
2. The coven begins to be formed as Agatha and Joe recruit witches to walk the road. It’s clear how hated Agatha is from the things she’s done but the way she’s getting witches recruited is fantastic. Joe one-ups Jen who’s having legal issues from customers suffering superficial burns and causes her unable to resist Agatha’s offer. The show is becoming more curious as it goes on.
3. Point 1 continues here with Agatha’s obnoxious behavior. The recruitment continues and this time she blatantly gets the next witch fired from her job and enjoys doing so. I can’t help but laugh.
4. That song was so catchy.
5. Those witches or creatures or whatever they were who were chasing Joe were terrifying. That entire scene of the slow movement was eery but this is what I’m expecting when it comes to this show. A great scene overall.
What I Disliked
The only dislike here is still the lack of magic seen. Understandably we’re still easing into it and the ending presumingly showed we’re not far from Agatha regaining some or all of her powers. It wasn’t a bad episode by any means but the lack of any form of action or magic did hurt the episode. I understand not every episode will be action packed but I wasn’t expecting it to take more than 2 episodes for Agatha to regain her powers.
Favorite Moment
“I never doubted us for a second” – Agatha Harkness, who was so happy to betray her newly recruited coven just minutes before. Brilliant.
Standout Character
It’s easily Agatha again in the second episode. Her witty humor and sarcastic personality shone through more than anything here. I cannot wait to finally see her regain her powers in the upcoming episode.
Verdict
A good episode but nothing phenomenal. There’s a lot to like with this show but I was hoping it wouldn’t be taking over 2 episodes to truly get into it. We know what Agatha was like with her powers prior so the build-up here doesn’t feel necessary at all. However, though, this show has massive potential and I trust this will be seen as we progress through the episodes.
