What I Liked

1. I love the fact that Thrawn referenced Luke in the beginning. He essentially mentions the fact they should never underestimate the ability of a single Jedi as he saw what can happen from one. This is interesting that he still knows what happened even after he’s been exiled for so many years.

2. The Blade of Talzin has made a live-action appearance as Morgan becomes part of the Nightsisters officially and is provided with the blade. This is definitely going to lead to one hell of a fight and I cannot wait.

3. Ezra begins building a new lightsaber although he’s hilariously annoying Huyang as he’s using his area to do so. Ezra even mentions he knows how to construct a lightsaber from Kanan. It’s just nice to actually hear his name mentioned as well haven’t heard his name in this entire series that I recall.

4. Sabine, Ahsoka, and Ezra look fantastic as they stand side by side against the Stormtroopers. With all of them rocking different color lightsabers, it looks so much better. What a scene though as they work together to take them out.

5. We’ve seen this Nightsister resurrection magic in the Fallen Order game. After the troopers are taken out, the Nightsisters resurrect them to fight again. It’s now obvious that they’ve been resurrected because they’re moving drastically slower than they were prior.

6. It’s now Ahsoka vs. Morgan. Ahsoka instructs Ezra and Sabine to carry on forward to stop Thrawn. Ahsoka then battles against the newly given Blade of Talzin whilst the other 2 advance and get into their own fight against powerful troopers. This entire scene is just fantastic from both ends of the spectrum. I honestly love nothing more than pure lightsaber action and we’re getting 3 different people to use them in battle.

7. I never thought this would be a like as I never really enjoyed the idea that Sabine is force-sensitive. However, as she’s being choked up ready to die, she uses the force to pull her saber back and kill the trooper. This was a moment when you actually wanted her to use the force correctly. I’m glad they built up to this.

8. As Ezra jumps to board the Star Destroyer, Ahsoka is moving back struggling against Morgan and the entire squadron of Stormtroopers. Ezra asks Sabine to jump with him to stop Thrawn and you believe she has. Ahsoka is cornered and loses one of her sabers in the process as it’s sliced in half, then out of nowhere Sabine turns up and helps her. Ahsoka defeats Morgan in the end and you just have nothing but fear for Ezra as he’s aboard the Star Destroyer by himself.

9. As the Destroyer readies to move away, they’re being hit by the Stormtroopers and the Star Destroyer so they run. You fully believe they’re going to attempt to jump to the Destroyer but as they jump, Huyang catches them in his ship and they go full steam ahead. This is just absolutely fantastic.

10. Anakin’s force ghost appears at the very end which is nice to see actual Anakin. This has definitely set up a second season so ideally I need Disney to fully announce this ASAP. I need more of this. As Ahsoka and Sabine remain trapped, Ezra does make it back to the New Republic. He lands on the ship that Hera is on and it’s just a beautiful moment. You want nothing more than for him to shout that Thrawn is back due to how the New Republic has been this entire series. It’s touching though, the fact he’s finally home.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report in this episode.

Favorite Moment

Now that Sabine and Ahsoka are trapped, Ezra does manage to find his way back to the ship that Hera is on. You do want him to scream that Thrawn is back considering how the New Republic has been this entire series. A touching moment nonetheless though, I loved this entire moment.

Standout Character

It’s a difficult one in this episode because almost everybody stands out in their own way. If I had to choose from one individual then I’m giving it to Sabine. We’ve had some fantastic development for her character this season. I mentioned earlier that I wasn’t a fan of the fact Sabine is force-sensitive but they’ve built her in such a way that I actually began to care if she could use the force or not. When she finally does, it’s an amazing moment.

Verdict

A masterpiece of a finale. I said what I said. I loved every single minute of this episode and more so how it ended. It sets up perfectly for a second season or can even venture into a movie. Dave Filoni has done a fantastic job in setting up something post-season 1 so we’ll see but this finale was special.
