Amazon has brought on Steve Lightfoot as a co-showrunner for the upcoming live-action Spider-Man Noir series.
Not much is known about the Noir series but what we do know is that it was first reported to be in the works at Amazon back in February and that Oren Uziel is the writer for the project and will serve alongside Lightfoot as co-showrunner and executive producer.
Along with that, it was reported that the untitled series will follow an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City. Reports suggest that the project will be set in its own universe and the main character will NOT be Peter Parker.
Bringing on Steve Lightfoot is such a huge step for Amazon as this isn’t his first step into the Marvel world. He previously developed and served as a showrunner on Netflix’s “The Punisher” series starring Jon Bernthal. The show ran for two seasons before Disney decided to bring all Marvel content back to their own streaming services.
The Spider-Man Noir series is the second known project based on a Spider character at Amazon. It was previously announced that Amazon was moving forward with the series “Silk: Spider Society” from showrunner Angela Kang, with several other shows in the works.
It is unknown at this time what other Marvel characters will be featured in the other Amazon shows, and it could be anyone since Sony currently controls over 900 characters associated with the Spider-Man franchise.
