Andor “Aldhani” Review

Season 1 Episode 4 – “Out of options, Cassian is recruited for a dangerous mission to infiltrate an Imperial garrison.”

Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain major spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode we would recommend that you click off the article, and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. Luthen Rael gives a very good speech to Cassian as well as offering him two choices, get dropped off and begin a long run to stay away from the Empire, or do a job, and get paid for messing with the Empire. Cassian obviously will agree to this job. We also get to see Coruscant post-Revenge of the Sith.

2. I do like how essentially Rael is testing Cassian’s loyalty. Rael gives him a crystal and tells Cassian that it means more to him and he wants to get it back after this mission they are on now. He also tells Cassian that he should take no less than 50,000 credits for it.

3. We’ve always basically seen Mon Mothma surrounded by members of the Rebel Alliance, so it’s a nice touch to see her as a Senator in a post-Revenge of the Sith timeline. She looks as gracious as ever too.

4. Essentially, this group that Cassian has been placed in by Rael is the first “Rogue One” squad. This mission that they are on where they will rob the garrison and escape is a suicide mission as stated by Cassian himself. It’s a prequel mission to the Scarif mission.

What I Disliked

1. I feel like episode 4 is similar to episode 2 in terms of no action, but a whole lot of important dialogue. However, the lack of action will take hit the overall rating of the episode.

2. The pace of the episode felt like a mixture of episode 2 where the dialogue slowed the episode down, but had hints of episode 3 where Rael and Cassian managed to escape and instantly put Cassian in with this new group.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would simply be seeing Coruscant again. It’s one of the Star Wars worlds I really enjoy for everything it delivers, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Anytime we get to see this world again is a huge plus.

Standout Character

I’m going to give this to Luthen Rael. He’s mysterious even after an entire episode and this episode just backed the mystery of him even more as it showed him in a disguise and being a wealthy man on Coruscant.

Verdict

Honestly, a similar episode to episode 2 in terms of speed, dialogue, and the lack of action. While the dialogue was important in this episode, the lack of action is a huge minus. I hope that this series is not headed down the route of action, no action, action in episodes.
