Arrow’s run finally came to an end last week, with everyone getting their own idea of a happy ending.
Often a lot of the times I see people stating seasons 1 & 2 were their favourites. They’re mine also, but how did season 8 really do?
Well, in the grand schemes of things it did fantastic. Leading up to Crisis we had two characters return each episode, some surprising, some were kind of a let-down. More importantly, we got the returns.
The season was different. Oliver’s been unmasked, the missions he’s on were slightly confusing because of the time’s he was in, if they were real or not, and so on. This did bug me throughout because in the grand schemes of things, I wasn’t sure if what was happening was happening, if that makes sense.
One of the major things I enjoyed this season was that Felicity was not there. I like her character, but “Olicity” was sometimes a bit too much for me. It felt like Oliver could get on and do what he needed to do.
Moving forward toward Crisis, each mission proved to be somewhat of importance even though some of the times it did get confusing, it was emotional. The first episode when Moira returned was especially emotional. Ultimately, you kind of knew in the end the show would end with Oliver’s passing.
I rated each episode highly, because in some ways, you could tell the writers really tried to bring it back to base. I liked this, more so with Oliver pretty much going at everything alone, albeit he did have a lot of help along the way.
Could Arrow have done better? I definitely think so. The show had it flaws throughout, season 8 was no different, but it’s a show that we love because of it’s flaws. More importantly, I think the saddest part of this is that Stephen Amell is done. He was the person that managed to create the huge universe in the CW that we have today.
The finale was perfect for me, though. I did see a lot of comments that were incredibly mixed feelings. I understand, but for me it ended the best way it possibly could. It never left any real open questions (with the exception of which Felicity and Oliver was that at the end), everyone got their new paths, and it ended the way it should have. I cannot complain with that.

With the average rating sitting at a 9.5, I feel like that is definitely a fair reflection on how the series went. The season had some amazing highs, and even the lows were never to the point of disgust either.
Regarding the show, I personally am definitely going to miss Arrow. It was the show that I always held in the highest regard so it was definitely an emotional experience.
A massive thank you to CW for giving us the show, and all the cast, especially Stephen Amell!
