Hall H just exploded with this announcement. Avengers Doomsday is set for May 2026 and Robert Downey Jr. will be returning but this time as Doctor Doom.
RDJ’s return to Marvel has been heavily rumored for quite some time and now it’s finally official by Marvel themselves.
I know this move is in response to Jonathan Majors being fired from Marvel, thus making Kang’s character’s future uncertain.
Understandably I do believe they could recast Kang’s character due to all of the work they have built up but being honest, I don’t think Kang would’ve ever been on the same level as Thanos when it comes to a big bad.
RDJ has everything to make Doctor Doom great, which means they can start again by teasing the next big bad in upcoming Marvel films before we reach 2026 for the next Avengers outing.
