Batgirl Reportedly Shelved by Warner Bros

That’s right, you read the title correctly. Batgirl has reportedly been shelved by Warner Bros.

This isn’t clickbait, this is real. Warner Bros has decided not to release the Batgirl movie in theaters or on HBO Max.

Even though filming has been completely finished, Warner Bros has decided to put Batgirl on the shelf according to the NY Post. The movie had a reported budget of $70 million but according to the source stated that the movie was actually more than $100 million.

More recently, they were doing test screenings for audiences in anticipation of a late 2022 debut for the movie which would rank among the most expensive cinematic castoffs ever. However, those tests were said to be so poorly received by the moviegoers that the studio decided to pull the movie.

Warner Bros Discovery is “committed to making DC titles big theatrical event films, and Batgirl isn’t that”.

This does make me question whether or not Blue Beetle starring Xolo Maridueña is next to be scrapped as that falls under the same banner as Batgirl.
