Batwoman “Loose Tooth” Review

Season 3 Episode 2 – When a new incarnation of Killer Croc surfaces and starts racking up a body count, the inaugural team-up of Batwoman and Alice is put to the test; Luke and Mary’s relationship becomes strained under the weight of a secret Luke is keeping.

We understand the comments made by Ruby and absolutely stand by her throughout this public process. This review is because we enjoy the show for entertainment purposes and still support Javicia Leslie and the cast. We’re in no way paid by The CW or WB, or affiliated with either.

What I Liked

1. Quite a sinister start to this episode which I always like as two teenagers just looking for some fun in the school’s pool are lured to their death under the water. A very bloody and gory scene that always sets the bar high for the rest of the episode!

2. A somewhat return of a well-known villain throughout Batman’s history, killer Croc seems to have made his way back to Gotham. It seems another person has been infected by a remaining tooth from the original Killer Croc, but it’s nice hearing of another well-known villain in the show.

3. When building Batwing Lucius set up the AI as himself, a very sweet small touch as Luke (in a way) can speak to his dad once again.

4. As another girl is taken by Killer Croc we see Alice and Ryan team up together to find her. The girl wakes up in the sewers surrounded by bodies, this episode is really hitting it out of the park with the gory scenes, to be honest, it hasn’t felt this dark in quite some time!

What I Disliked

1. After making such a big deal about not wanting to leave this little girl the way she was left, Alice literally left her for dead! I know Alice is traumatized from her childhood but what a dick move!

2. The fight scene between Batwing and Alice was literally banged average at best, it just didn’t make much of an impact for me at all.

3. The actual capture of Killer Croc 2.0 was just disappointing. The action throughout the scene just wasn’t there yet again.

Favourite Moment

The scene between Ryan and Sophie as they spoke about her mother was very emotional as Sophie tells her she knows what it’s like to just need a hug from her mam; let’s face it we all know that feeling too well at times. This was followed by Ryan going to confront her birth mother, I’m very glad this hasn’t been dragged out!

Standout Character

The standout is going to go to Batwoman herself, Javicia Leslie. Her acting so far this season has been a big improvement, and she had some great scenes throughout this episode.

Verdict

A good episode but definitely room for improvement mainly in some of those fight scenes. However, the episode was very gory which I always enjoy!
