Season 4 Episode 9 “Gambi warns the Pierce family of a possible crisis looming.”
What I Liked?
1. Lynn normally doesn’t make this list but however, she did this week with her dream where she tried to get rid of the metagene in Jefferson, Anissa, and Jennifer, however, it goes wrong and they die, this truly affects Lynn in the dream and she has to go see a therapist about it.
2. Gambi makes Anissa a new Thunder suit, I won’t lie, the suit is designed weirdly, it’s got bright colors but it does have its perks, like a memory system in where it will protect Anissa for a short amount of time when she doesn’t hold her breath to use her powers.
3. The Pierce family finds out about Ishmael, how dangerous he is, and what his motivations are, getting high-profile kills to join the League of Assassins. This sets Jefferson on his mission for this week, which we’ll speak on a bit later.
4. Painkiller goes to a bar to speak with Jesse to find out about the embezzlement situation involving Jefferson and Tobias, Painkiller uses his powers to poison Jesse, until Khalil speaks with Painkiller about getting information. We come to find out that Tobias has a secret hidden ledger about it. Painkiller then kills Jesse much to Khalil’s disapproval.
What I Disliked?
1. Jennifer goes live on Lightnings IG account, which in turn alerts the police about her profile. When it was first introduced, I called this will come back to haunt her and it will. (see favorite moment).
2. Lynn can not continue her research because of the embezzlement situation, she returns home and starts an argument with Jefferson, essentially blaming him for a mess Tobias is causing. She was super annoying this episode, but I suppose it’s the usual with Lynn.
3. Since Lightning once again, did not listen to her father, Jefferson, she is about to walk into a trap set by the police, all because no one listens to the veteran superhero.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment was the end few scenes, the way it was set up was perfect. First, we get Black Lightning challenging Ishmael to a 1v1 fight, we get Lynn getting arrested for violation of Civil Rights, Jennifer walking into a police trap where they use the new meta weapons on her, and we get Anissa finding her work friend dead and walking out into the street in front of a speeding car, while this happens, Tobias uses a meta weapons to stop all meta’s powers from working, what happens to every, we don’t know. It such a great scene.
Standout Character
Black Lightning, he was the voice of reason and yet wasn’t listened to as per usual.
The Verdict
The episode was jam-packed with a bit of everything, action and great dialogue and some major reveals for the next episode. We come to find out Tobias’s plan and why he hates Black Lightning, we saw the Pierce family lose their powers at major needed times. Solid episode to be honest.
