Cloak & Dagger ”Shadow Selves” Review

Season 2 episode 3Tandy and Tyrone try to find out what has happened to a group of young girls who have gone missing; Mina discovers a possible side effect to the big Roxon leak.”

The Good & The Bad

The Good

1. We start off by going back to the finale of last season when we saw O’Reilly crawl out the lake, she heads back to her apartment and we get to see some of her strength when she literally throws a fridge down the stairs. Throughout the episode we see how ruthless and brutal she is when she kills people by slicing their necks with her fingernails, she shot at O’Reilly, Tyrone and Tandy and she’s done a investigation for over 8 months to find missing girls who were being sex trafficked. I’m really enjoying seeing this character progress throughout each episode.

2. In this episode Tyrone and Tandy are split over their opinions on whether or not Mayhem is doing the right or wrong thing. Tandy’s opinion on Mayhem is that she might be doing the right thing by killing the sex traffickers while Tyrone’s opinion is that she’s wrong because she’s ”shoot first ask questions later” type of way of doing things which reminds him of his brothers shooting.

3. We see Tandy has been practicing with her abilities trying different things, we see this in the episode where she makes a ball of light and throws it through a window and blinds the entire building and gang members inside. This was so good to see because she’s creating other stuff instead of just daggers.

4. When we talk about good points in the episode the best point in the episode for me was when Tyrone appeared in the building in front of a young kid and then Mayhem entered the building shooting with a sub-machine gun and we got a slow motion scene where the bullets were going in the direction of the young kid and we see Tyrone use his abilities to send the bullets to the darkforce dimension along with Mayhem.

The Bad

1. Father Delgado really came out of nowhere this episode, we see in one of Mayhem’s flashback’s that Father Delgado gave up being a Priest because of the Tyrone situation and throughout the present day scenes he appeared drunk and on the streets of New Orleans. Not sure how he fits in with the present day story line but it appears if he’s someone Mayhem can talk to.

Holy Shit Moment

My Holy Shit Moment this episode was Mayhem, it showed her killing many people but the one kill i did not expect was the police officer who helped protect Connors the cop who shot Tyrone’s brother. We see Mayhem talk to him about where Connors is but he says he didn’t know, when Mayhem started to walk away he said ”i wish i didn’t stick my neck out for him” this enraged Mayhem and we see her straight up slice his neck in broad daylight.

Verdict

Another incredible episode, the show continues to impress me with the direction it’s headed. The show is tackling real life hard issues such as sex trafficking and this is what makes it stand out from the rest. The Actors who play the respective character are perfect. They all play the characters really well. The CGI for the powers of Tyrone and Tandy are brilliant. The fight scenes are incredible as well each episode.
