The world of GI Joe and Snake Eyes is, I wouldn’t say “not known” but it hasn’t got the same hype as other franchises have got. I love that universe, I love the movies, the characters, I do wish the films kept Channing Tatum in it instead of killing him off.
Mainly, I love Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. I think both of these character backstories are done incredibly well, especially in the Snake Eyes movie that was released in 2021. Whatever opinions you may have about that movie or the box office numbers, that is fine, I loved the film. I still do.
As I play video games, I think to myself, could a Snake Eyes video game truly work?
I truly believe that a Snake Eyes video game could work, and I think it would be loved if it was done in a certain way.
What I mean by this is take a chapter out of the Metal Gear Solid games and mix it together with the style of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
I think this could work. Give the game a good life span, around 14-18 hours to reach the end of the main story for Snake Eyes. Give the game more time for side quests, expansions, DLC, and just generally to unlock things.
Give Snake Eyes a good upgrade system, similar to once again, Jedi Fallen Order. Allow the player to choose which abilities and weapons to unlock for Snake Eyes. Allow the player to also choose and slowly progress from a bland suit for Snake Eyes to a similar suit we see in the Snake Eyes movie.
Fortnite did it great. Fortnite might not be everyone’s cup of tea but one thing they do and no one will beat them in the video game universe is skins.
Just look at that Snake Eyes skin. It’s literally perfection. Give us a video game and allow that to be the final suit. Have another movie, comics, animation, and toy suits as things to unlock or to an extent, to purchase.
I would day one buy a Snake Eyes video game, I’d even go as far as to pre-order the best possible edition of the game.
Obviously, if you are doing a Snake Eyes video game, have the main villain Storm Shadow. He’ll have henchmen etc to draw out the game but ultimately the final showdown will be Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow.
Both characters utilizing swords as primary weapons have a system like Ghost of Tsushima. The combat in that game with swords is unbelievable. It’s great. There is nothing more satisfying than engaging in a sword fight in Ghost of Tsushima, especially when you walk up to a group of enemies and instantly go into a “standoff” mode.
Honestly, I think the Snake Eyes character deserves a video game. I would want Henry Golding to return to give the character a voice if they decide to do it that way.
