Recently, Insomniac Games had a data breach, and a bunch of stuff leaked and made its way online for the internet to read and for many Spider-Man fans to begin theorizing on many of things. Everything from Wolverine information to Spider-Man news leaked.
The main thing here is that the leaks are thin and don’t confirm anything.
Along with a bunch of information, some photos were also shared online with a blurry look at Wolverine, Spider-Man and the most talked about photo, Spider-Verse. References to things like “Miles”, “RCE”, and “SM3” were all shown on a white background.
While we don’t exactly know what the RCE stands for, it’s safe to say that the SM3 means Spider-Man 3. Another image containing the text “additional support for Spider-Verse” was revealed but there has been no confirmation from Insomniac or Sony regarding a Spider-Verse video game.
If this is real, the possibilities are endless for the game, but as said, these are from leaks so they could be fake. Do not expect an announcement of sorts from Insomniac anytime soon.
But, the question is… could a Spider-Verse game work? Yes. Yes, it could. For me, the possibilities are endless, with something like the Spider-Verse you can easily hop into it and play as a bunch of characters or even create your own. The stories are endless so Insomniac could do something insane and deliver such a unique experience within the Spider-Verse.
There is a theory or two going around about the potential Spider-Verse game. One theory is that it is a potential DLC for the next Spider-Verse film. This is a possibility given the side quest within the Spider-Man 2 game and how we’ve seen the Insomniac Spider-Man in the animated Spider-Verse movies.
Another thing is that this belongs to Insomniac’s unannounced multiplayer game where you could create your own Spider character.
Whatever they do, I have full faith in Insomniac regarding anything Spider-related. They know what they’re doing, and they love and cherish the characters. As always, take the leaks with a grain of salt, don’t believe anything without an announcement from Insomniac, and stick to making theories for now.
