We all remember the news that Hayden was officially returning as the most iconic villain in the world, Darth Vader. As a 90’s kid growing up with the Prequels, it was more than welcomed with the cast addition. What made it better was the internet went wild for it.
It makes a mass difference from people hating on him and the Prequels, but this news can go further than just his return in the Obi-Wan spin-off series, Kenobi.
The reason why I say that is because of Darth Vader’s popularity, if Hayden comes back to the role and smashes it then I couldn’t see why the Disney executives wouldn’t discuss a deal for his own show if one isn’t already in talks.
I have said this before in an article you could see here, albeit I talked about a movie – a series still makes a lot of sense. As mentioned, given how popular Vader is, it’s an announcement that would surely go down well with the fans.
Vader has an amazing comic book run where we see him hunt down the remaining Jedi, but we actually got to read the full prime Vader, and not the one we see in the Originals.
A series where he hunts down the remaining Jedi, deals with the loss of Padme, adjusting to his new suit and cybernetics. Any Star Wars fan would absolutely love to see this, and I included.
I know a lot of fans want to move on from the Skywalker era, and honestly, I completely agree. However, this is something we, as Star Wars fans, need before we do officially move on in live-action.
Rogue One gave us the best live-action tease, but imagine that in a much better way and more often. It would just be amazing and there’s so much story to tell. People often forget between Episode 3 and Episode 4, so much happened with a lot of different characters.
EA and Respawn’s Jedi: Fallen Order game shows just a tiny glimpse of what was happening during that timeframe. After all, around 20 years had passed before we see Luke in A New Hope.
I hope in every way that Hayden returns to the role in such a way that it would be difficult to ignore offering him a deal. I was always excited for the Kenobi series, especially now Ewan is returning to his role as Obi-Wan, but once I heard the news of Hayden, my excitement seriously peaked.
As of now, we don’t have a release date for Kenobi, but it was told to begin filming this month. If that’s correct, then we should expect to see Kenobi in 2022 as the time would make sense.
The Book of Boba Fett is set to release in December 2021, followed by season 3 of The Mandalorian. Kenobi could, however, come before the third season of The Mandalorian.
As always, whenever any news drops regarding these shows we will be sure to update you.
