DC FanDome Recap: The Highlights

We watched the entire 8-hour event, and the event was incredibly exciting. It felt like it was just news after news, We’re okay with that. We knew by the schedule we were in for one hell of an event, but we’re still overjoyed by everything that was showcased.

We will look over everything we mainly reported on, and the best bits of the event. With photos, trailers attached. So, it’s easier for you to scroll through this one article to get all the information you need instead of clicking on different articles trying to piece it together if you missed it.

Let’s get into it, we’ll start in order as well for you.

Wonder Woman 1984

There isn’t really a lot to say on this except presenting you with the trailer as that kind of does all the talking for us. This movie proved with the first trailer it’s going to be special, but the second trailer released at the event surpasses that even more.

Gotham Knights

Well, to be honest with this we were pleasantly surprised. As we watched the event, we kept discussing the “Batman” game. Expecting a fourth instalment into the already incredible franchise. What we got was even better.

WB Montreal Games announced Gotham Knights, with 4 playable characters. Including Red Hood, Nightwing, Robin and Batgirl. Even showing off some gameplay footage. We asked for this back in April when we wrote an article of what we would love to see, so as you can imagine, we’re super ecstatic this has been announced.

James Gunn’s Suicide Squad cast is revealed

Although we, unfortunately, did not get a trailer for this, we did get the cast list. A lot of new characters seem to be in the second movie, these include:

– Idris Elba as Bloodsport
– John Cena as Peacemaker
– Peter Capaldi as The Thinker
– Flula Borg as Javelin
– Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2
– Michael Rooker as Savant
– David Dastmalchian as Polka Dot Man
– Mayling Ng as Mongal
– Nathan Fillion as TDK
– Alica Braga as Solsoria
– Pete Davidson as Blackguard
– Sean Gunn as Weasel

While we are so looking forward to this movie, there’s no denying that Will Smith will be a huge miss, as he was exceptional as Deadshot. None the less, it will be great to see the movie with a bunch of new cast brought in.

Justice League The Snyder Cut

Finally, after all these years of petitions, campaigns, and an incredible movement, we finally got our first look at the TRUE Justice League from the legend that is Zack Snyder.

In the trailer, we got to see more expanded scenes for Darkseid, Cyborg, Flash, and Superman. We got to see a completely new film compared to the Josstice League version. This movie will be in 4x 1-hour episodes and a full 4-hour long movie. WHAT MORE COULD HE GIVE US?!

The Flash season 7

The last season was cut short due to Covid-19, however, the story continues for the cast in season 7 with Eva Mcculloch back as our villain! For us here at Comic Universe, we are sad to no longer see Ralph Dibny part of the crew, but hopefully, the storyline can make up for the unfortunate loss. We will also be seeing the return of Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, as she left the previous season due to being on Maternity leave.

TITANS confirms iconic characters

While the Titans panel at DC FanDome was a little lacklustre but that is honestly hard to make an exciting panel when you haven’t been able to film your next season, we did, however, get a few reveals of who will be debuting in the show in the upcoming season.

– Barbara Gordon
– Jonathan Crane AKA Scarecrow
– Curran Walters aka Jason Todd will become Red Hood

Black Adam news

Although we could not get a trailer for this as the movie is still in the early stages, the teaser from Dwayne Johnson was enough to get us excited. He looks perfect to play this role. We also got a small glimpse of the members of the JSA which include Hawkman, Dr Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher.

The storyline behind Black Adam does sound interesting and quite different from your typical superhero. Black Adam was imprisoned for 5,000 years, but now he’s back and is heading to our screens. Many of us have waited years to see this, as it was announced back in 2014 that Dwayne Johnson would be playing the role. While talking to viewers watching DC FanDome, he states he knows viewers have waited a long time to see this, however, he asks that we wait a little while longer, but promises that the movie will go beyond our wildest expectations.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer

Rocksteady Games highly anticipated game was revealed. Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League was revealed in a very incredible trailer. We got to see 4 members of the Squad, Harley, Deadshot, Boomerang, and King Shark. We also got introduced to one of the villains of the game, Superman. The game is set to release on next-gen consoles and will release in 2022.

Matt Reeve’s The Batman trailer

Matt Reeves The Batman was the last panel of the event. Matt Reeves came and spoke about the movie, his future projects like the Gotham PD show. He mentioned that he has plans for this universe, where there will be these iconic characters but in an original take on them.

Robert Pattinson appeared and gave a quick speech about wanting to return to filming as soon as he can. The trailer debuted an epic, sad Batman. The movie is set in Batman’s second year, something we truly haven’t seen in any previous version of the movies.

Our best pick

Daniel – “For me personally, there was a lot. From the Gotham Knights game to the reveal of Red Hood in TITANS season 2, to The Batman. I honestly have to say The Batman was my best pick. Matt confirmed the movie is only 25-30% done, and for a trailer like that, I can only imagine what the rest is going to look like. Robert Pattinson is going to be incredible!”

Phil – “This was a very hard choice, it boiled down to 4 options. Gotham Knights which introduced an incredible trailer as well as gameplay footage, The Snyder Cut finally showing off all its glory, The Suicide Squad game which is a continuation of the Arkham series, and The Batman. We also got a Red Hood confirmation but ultimately, The Batman trailer blew me away and I can already say Pattinson is my favourite Batman.

Rebecca – “For me, although I am looking forward to everything due to be released, and The Batman coming in very closely as my best pick, I’m personally most looking forward to The Justice League Snyder cut. The previous film for me was quite a letdown, however with obvious potential due to the incredible cast and the characters they play. I believe with Snyders original take on the movie this could transform into something amazing.”

There we have it. That was our chosen best bits of the DC FanDome. Of course, a lot more happened in the event.
