Emerald Fennell who is an Oscar-nominated director for “Promising Young Woman” is set to write a script for a live-action Zatanna movie for DC Comics.
This will be the character’s first-ever live-action DC movie, even though we’ve had the character in live-action once before portrayed by Serinda Swan in Smallville.
The live-action Zatanna movie from Warner Bros.’ DC Films and J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot Productions is set to be released theatrically.
This will also mark the characters DC Extended Universe’s first appearance. Zatanna is known for her involvement with the Justice League.
Although Emerald Fennell is set to write the movie, the main character for Zatanna has not been cast yet. It’ll definitely be interesting to see who is cast but if it was me, I’d cast Alexandra Daddario as she’s perfect for the role.
After Wonder Woman and the sequel, Wonder woman 1984, the Zatanna movie will mark the second female DC hero to headline a movie in the DC films slate. The studio recently cast Sasha Calle to don the cape of Supergirl in The Flash movie so I’m expecting a Supergirl movie down the line starring Sasha Calle.
