DC Films Reveals “New Gods” and “The Trench” Is Officially Cancelled

A couple of years ago Warner Bros and DC Films announced two movies that were in development. Ava DuVernay’s New Gods and James Wan’s The Trench have officially been canceled.

Warner Bros. and DC has said;

“As part of our DC slate, some legacy development titles including New Gods and The Trench will not be moving forward, We thank our partners Ava DuVernay, Tom King, James Wan, and Peter Safran for their time and collaboration during this process and look forward to our continued partnership with them on other DC stories. The projects will remain in their skillful hands if they were to move forward in the future.”

James Wan’s The Trench being canceled is no surprise, literally, no one asked for this movie to even be developed. It was interesting when it was announced, it just wouldn’t have worked out. I don’t know what Warner Bros. was thinking when they started developing this movie.

I’d like to see James Wan develop something else in the DC Extended Universe.

As for Ava Ava DuVernay’s New God’s, I lost all hype for this movie after nearly 2 years of waiting without any developments in the movie. The movie was rumored to be in development since 2018 with Tom King attached to it.

But after a while, we heard nothing, no castings, no script, and yet Ava was focused on other projects. It’s sad that this didn’t end up getting made, especially with how well-received Ray Porter’s Darkseid was in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie.
