Deadpool & Wolverine “Wolverine Variants” Ranked

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Deadpool went traveling across timelines to find a version of Wolverine who could become an anchor for Deadpool’s universe. We saw many versions of Wolverine so why not rank them from worst to best?

7. Henry Cavill

This was just a casting to tease comic book fans as to what could have been. Although I am a fan of Henry, I did not want him cast as Wolverine, although he would do a good job at this role I believe there are better options.

6. Old Man Logan

I enjoyed seeing Old Man Logan in this movie, even for just a few seconds. Why did I rank this at the bottom? Simply because of Logan in 2017. Logan was heavily inspired by the Old Man Logan story but it just didn’t quite hit the same as the true story of Old Man Logan.

5. Wolverine vs Hulk

It’s the moment all fans have been waiting for. The showdown between Hulk and Wolverine. While this was such an epic tease and was only meant to be that, I do wish we saw Wolverine jump at Hulk after we saw the Hulk hit Deadpool.

4. Crucified Wolverine

This was done really well in live-action. Seeing this iconic cover of Wolverine being crucified on a planet of bloody bones was absolutely horrific and something that I did not expect to see. The cover literally translated well to live-action and I would love to see this as a full story, however, I do not expect to see this.

3. Patch

Seeing Patch in this movie could literally mean so many things. We know Patch is Wolverine undercover and spends most of his time in Madripoor which was introduced in the Falcon and The Winter Soldier series… could this mean we’ll see a Wolverine in this part of the MCU?

2. Short Comic Accurate Wolverine

This was literally just a nod to the comic fans who for the most part of 20 years has often questioned why Hugh Jackman was cast as he is 6’2 and Wolverine is a short stubby man towering at 5’3. This is one issue that has always plagued the casting. So this was just a wink at those complaining fans.

1. Weapon Omega

This is a version of Wolverine that I did not expect to see. While we have seen Weapon X in live-action many times, this version of Weapon X is brutal as seen by the one hand. The one hand and the unkempt mane of hair are a product of his timeline… a world ravaged by Apocalypse.
