Take this with a huge pinch of salt, but according to Bill Hunt on Twitter, he’s hearing reports that Disney+ will be adding an adult section to the popular streaming platform for R-Rated shows such as Deadpool, Logan and other shows.
If true, this makes a lot of sense for Disney+ and it’s adult users. Especially considering a lot of fans are actually adults.
The reason I say to take this with a pinch of salt is because we were told a while back this would never happen, simply to keep the platform as family-friendly as possible.
Now for me, anyway, I never liked this, to begin with as much as I love the streaming service. I have an 8-month-old son who watches Mickey Mouse and other shows. I set up the account with a profile for him alone, so I see no reason why parents can’t simply use parental controls to stop these shows from popping?
The rumour is that the adult section will require a pin to access any show that is deemed R-rated and to be honest I will happily take that. Especially if it means I can watch movies such as Deadpool, and even Die Hard at Christmas.
A lot of these movies and shows are spread across a few different streaming platforms, so another thing that makes sense is to have it in one single place, more so considering the fact Disney+ is pretty much worldwide at this point, compared to platforms such as Hulu.
The higher count of shows and movies on Disney+ can only mean more people will feel obligated to sign up, especially if they end up with some of the other movies such as the old school Daredevil, Spider-Man etc. I know Spider-Man is different with Sony and stuff, but it’s Disney, anything can happen.
The question that comes from it is will they increase their prices because of it? Well, potentially. Disney+ is cheaper than Netflix, by a large amount. So, for me, more content means to pay more. If they add all of the adult content and charge me an extra £1 or “2 per month that wouldn’t bother me at all.
I’d like to know, if you haven’t signed up if Disney+ added these, would you sign up? Let me know down in the comments below.
