Season 2 Episode 9 “Before they can save the world from The Candlemaker, the Doom Patrol must first confront their childhood imaginary friends; Jane reflects on the first time that Miranda became “primary,” and Dorothy must make a fateful choice.”
What I Liked
1. The one thing I always like about this show is Diane Guerrero. Her acting skills really are superior. It shows at the beginning of the episode the first time Miranda took host and the life she lived then.
2. Why is Cliff’s imaginary friend Jesus? Of course, that reaction when he showed up was sublime, that was fantastic.
3. Kay looks for Jane’s station and realises she is not there, as Miranda approaches Kay learns it isn’t Miranda, it’s, in fact, somebody else.
What I Disliked
1. What’s the point of the absolute multi orgy porno in that scene? It lasted way too long and took away too much from the actual fight with the Candlemaker. I get it explains what happened to Miranda, but that lasted far too long. At the end of that scene, all we see is Jane throw a jab, what a waste of time.
2. It was the finale, but not technically the finale and didn’t feel like a finale either. Not much happened whatsoever. I know it’s tough to give the show too much grief for this, but I would rather the show be delayed and end properly instead of this. It feels incomplete, and as the end of the episode approached you knew it was going to feel like that.
Favourite Moment
There wasn’t that much. If I’m to give a moment, it will go down to Cliff vs Jesus because it was just comedy gold.
Standout Character
Despite the long wasted scene, I’m going to give this to Miranda, Jane or whoever. She was exceptional this episode and those acting skills were phenomenal.
Verdict
I understand with COVID the show has been cut short, but why release that? I can get why people like it so much, but that was easily one of the weakest finales I have ever seen. Even The Flash was cut short and that finale was actually decent.
