Gina Carano Has Been Removed From The Mandalorian

Gina Carano has been removed from The Mandalorian. A spokesperson explained she was not employed by Lucasfilm nor is there any plans to in the future.

The firing comes off the back of a trend on Twitter that was calling for her to be fired from her role as Cara Dune on the hit show. Gina has used the platform in many cases which has caused outrage among fans. More so recently comparing Republicans to Jews in the Nazi era.

We’re not sure how the show will go moving forward, but I trust the showrunners to make the best choices for the show.

Now moving into our opinion, as this is what people come here for.

I don’t believe she should have been fired, maybe a warning would have sufficed. I also do understand it. Gina has said some things simply not true, and at the end of the day, we’re in a pandemic. Misinformation spread from those in a celebrity standpoint should be wary of that.

I know she was a Donald Trump supporter and she’s more than entitled to her political views, just like everyone else is entitled to their own views as well. They have every right to discuss their Political views on any social media platform, however, freedom of speech isn’t without consequences, and the comparisons to the Holocaust isn’t acceptable in any nature. Lucasfilm and Disney have every right to decide who they want a part of their projects, just like social media platforms have a right to remove you at any point.

As for the trend of #CancelDisneyPlus, that’s pathetic. I for one, wouldn’t cancel my subscription based on one action when there’s many other shows, movies starring all kinds of actors and actresses that I also support.

I’m happy to see the trend is met with fans completely squashing the trend. I’m a fan of Disney, Star Wars, The Mandalorian and other content on there.

It’s a ridiculous movement. Just like my employer has the right to let me go if I post controversial posts on social media. Disney have to protect their products and assets. This is a move I do understand, whether people like it or not.

Despite the backlash due to the tweets, we wish Gina all the best moving forward.
