GTA 6 is hot on every fan’s lips as 2025 is the year we finally get a new entry into the most successful gaming franchise of all time. It’s been a wild ride from leaks, to the first-ever trailer and to potential release dates as well.
The rumored date for GTA 6 is apparently set for September 17th, 2025 which will mark exactly 12 years after its predecessor released as GTA 5 also released on September 17th.
This particular release date in question has been circling due to a store based in Uruguay listing GTA for sale with a release date. That’s where the leak is coming from.
It’s also rumored that 80 Level spoke to the owner of the store who claimed to work directly with PlayStation itself. That’s the leak, that’s the rumor.
Now, people can guess the release date, and ultimately someone, somewhere is going to be correct. This however seems far fetched in my opinion. I believe it’s unlikely that a random store in Uruguay has the release date, otherwise, we’d see other studios begin to put out release dates if they truly believes September 17th was the release date.
There aren’t a lot of full release dates for games this year and people are pointing the finger at Rockstar because I think everybody knows how well GTA 6 is going to do. I believe if a store in Uruguay really knew the date then other studios would know as well.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying the store is lying by any means. They could be telling the truth but there’s been so much information coming out about the game, it’s difficult to know what’s true and what isn’t. Besides a second trailer, a release date is what people want next. I believe both will come hand in hand as the date will be released with the second trailer.
So in a nutshell, take the news with a grain of salt. If it’s true then fair enough but at this stage, I don’t think many know the planned date except the executives at 2K/Rockstar.
