Hackers Release Stolen Data, Wolverine Videos & Information, Future Projects, And More From Insomniac Games

Over the last week or two, Hackers have been threatening Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games for ransom. The hackers threatened to release confidential data unless they were paid 50 BTC, or around $2 million. The hackers gave Insomniac Games 7 days to pay or they would release it, well the hackers have stuck to their word and released the data.

According to Cyber Daily, the ransomware group has released around 1.67 terabytes of data which is made up of more than 1.3 million files that contain everything from videos and images, contracts between Marvel and Sony for future projects, and personal staff files.

With social media being the main thing everyone uses in their current lives, it will be hard not to see any leaks from this, especially in the realm of gaming. Videos are circulating showing early Wolverine footage from movement to features that will be in the game.

Unannounced characters, game cast, locations, the plot, and a target release date are also circulating online. A major thing is also going around and that is the Insomniac Games release slate up until the end of 2033 as well as development budgets. The data also includes a bootable build of Wolverine.

With the news of a data breach happening, Sony issued a statement saying it launched an investigation and confirmed that no other Sony Divisions were affected. Neither it nor Insomniac commented on this latest leak.

According to Cyber Daily’s statement “Yes, we knew who we were attacking. We knew that developers making games like this would be an easy target. We were able to get the domain administrator within 20–25 minutes of hacking the network. Sony has launched an investigation, but it would be better in the backyard.”

A Rhysida spokesperson said money was the only motive for the attack.
