What I Liked?
1. The realization that her mother hired Yelena to kill Clint, that she’s been working with Kingpin, and that her mother isn’t who Kate thinks she is. Kate tells Clint that he can still make it home for Christmas and that this is her mess. This is when we see just how much the bond has grown as Clint tells Kate that she is his partner and that her mess is his.
2. Clint deflects a bullet from a sniper with a tray. While the party is being evacuated, Yelena is looking to kill Clint. Kate is trying to keep Yelena from reaching Clint, so she’s trying to stop the elevator on each floor, Yelena easily drags Kate down to the floor with Kate punching her in the face and Yelena gets super annoyed. This was actually a hilarious scene. I love the comedic side between the pair.
3. Kate manages to take down some members of the Tracksuit Mafia, when one gets the drop on Kate, Jack appears and takes down a couple of members. Clint takes down some more as well as Kazi and jumps out the window but ends up snapping the wire and landing in the Christmas tree.
4. Maya arrives and fights Kazi while Clint has to deal with Yelena. She asks him a question “I need to know what happened”, Clint tells Yelena that she’d never forgiven him if he told her, he tells her that Natasha saved the world by sacrificing herself.
5. Kate arrives to save her mother from Kingpin, Kingpin truly shows his power by ripping a car door off and tanking two bows from Kate, he is about to fight Kate when her mother knocks him into a shop window by hitting him with a car. I really like this version of Kingpin.
6. Clint makes it home for Christmas and even brings Kate home with her, officially making Kate part of the family. We find out why this watch was so important that Clint gave it to his wife, Agent 19, otherwise known as Bobbi Morse. Now, this also raises a question to Agents of SHIELD and whether Marvel has recast the role.
What I Disliked?
1. Not sure I like the ending to Kingpin in this series. I truly hope we see more of him, he was an absolute tank in this episode, and to be “killed” like that would seriously be very underwhelming especially with everything that has happened recently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
2. The entire post-credit scene. While Marvel are normally god-tier at post-credit scenes, setting up future villains or storylines, however, in this case, Marvel 100% absolutely dropped the ball with this post-credit scene. While Rogers the Musical was decent at the beginning, we didn’t truly need a whole post-credit scene for something we’ve already seen.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment was Hawkeye suiting up and him and Kate absolutely dismantling the Tracksuit Mafia members with trick arrows, this scene was just unbelievably well done and it was just great, the action and comedic side were perfect. It honestly felt like a video game mission.
Standout Character
I honestly would give this to Kate. She was absolutely amazing in this episode and as Clint said at the end, she fought Kingpin alone and came out of it which not many people do. Hailee Steinfeld was and is the perfect Kate.
The Verdict
Honestly, in terms of the story, the finale was slightly underwhelming. While the story did have it’s moments, the action is what truly set it apart. The action in this episode was amazing, it felt great and had some funny moments in it with Yelena and Kate. The characters were great and Kingpin was ruthless and amazing.
