The DC Extended Universe will be seeing Helen Mirren join the universe in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Helen Mirren will play the villain Hespera.
Helen Mirren joins the cast along with Rachel Zegler who will play sisters who may or may not be of ill intent, according to sources.
The Shazam sequel once again stars Zachary Levi as the adult version of Billy Batson who is played by Asher Angel.
David F. Sandberg returns to direct the Shazam sequel with a script coming from Henry Gayden. Peter Safran will produce through the Safran Company.
The first Shazam opened in April 2019 and earned around $366 million in the global box office. In addition to Fury of the Gods, New Line is developing a Black Adam movie that stars Dwayne Johnson.
It’ll be interesting to see how Helen Mirren does in a movie like this. She absolutely killed her scenes in the Fast and Furious movies she was in.
