Let's TalkVideo Games

Hogwarts Legacy and The Hate That Comes With it

I’m extremely excited for Hogwarts Legacy, aside from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Hogwarts is my most anticipated game of the year, and I have loved every single bit of marketing for the game. It’s new and something that many fans have waited for a long time to get.

I’ve pre-ordered it. They already have my £75 and if they release DLC for the game, I’ll buy that as well. I’ve already planned my first playthrough of the game, what house, and what wand I’ll have. I have plans to play through it at least 4 different times because of the houses and certain areas you can not go to unless you are in a certain house.

Now I want to speak about the hate that this game gets, as well as anyone who has stated they are buying and pre-ordering it. Don’t get me wrong, I know all about J.K. Rowling and her “views” on stuff. I disagree with her.

One of the reasons why I’m buying this game is simply because I love Harry Potter, the characters, the lore, and just the whole wizarding world.

I’m not buying this game to side with her, or to give my money to her, although ultimately she will indeed make a profit in some way, shape, or form from this game.

I see videos telling people to straight up not buy the game or they are horrible people, I get the hate towards Rowling but to fans just wanting to have a fantastic time, create their own character in the wizarding world, and go on a magical adventure is just wrong.

Another reason I’m buying this game is that I want to support the men and women that have worked so hard, so long, and so many hours to give fans of Harry Potter this endless open-world, action-adventure, magical story.

I can not wait to play Hogwarts Legacy, I can not wait to speak about it even more.

This is by no means a “defending J.K. Rowling” article, this is simply a gamer speaking about why he is buying a game.

I have never read one statement, tweet, article, or paragraph, I have never seen a clip or video of someone stating “I’m buying this to support J.K. Rowling”. It’s a dumb statement. Do people just not watch Harry Potter anymore? Do people not support the actors in the movies?

Hogwarts Legacy has outsold games on Steam already, and the numbers keep rising up. It’s an exciting game, it’s unique, and people just want to be a wizard or witch.
