Spider-Man 2 has been out for almost 3 months, and we’re still without New Game+. Insomniac did mention before Christmas this had been delayed but even up until now we have no further details on when this will be released.
All we have is that it will be ‘early 2024’. I’ll be honest; it’s not good enough.
The original Spider-Man game didn’t include this until months later, but Miles and the remaster both did, so it makes no sense why it wasn’t included on launch.
Spider-Man games are not known for their lengthy stories. They’re known for the impact and the immersive experience but don’t get me wrong, this game delivered on those points in huge ways. The game was fantastic, so I’m disappointed New Game+ wasn’t included on base.
Instead of a 20-hour experience, we could’ve had maybe a 35+ hour experience that added more to it.
The thing that makes New Game+ essential in a game like this is that you grow stronger as the game progresses. You unlock new abilities and even new suits towards the end of the game so by having New Game+ you’re allowed to rock all of this stuff from the beginning.
I know when New Game+ does eventually come it’ll be released alongside some new abilities and new suits, that’s fine, but give us a date or at least something that fans can go off.
I have no desire whatsoever to go back and start all over again after getting the platinum trophy but I do have a desire to go back through the story again. That’s why I want New Game+ to hurry up.
We know there is a lot of content still to come with the game. New Game+, Beetle, Carnage, and a crossover with Spider-Verse are all still to come. I know in a sense I am just being impatient but it’s because I have a huge urge to play the game again, I just want to use everything I unlocked through my first playthrough.
