When you hear the name Starkiller, you instantly think of this super-overpowered Sith-turned-Jedi. If you’re unfamiliar with who Starkiller is, then let me briefly explain.
Starkiller (voiced and modeled by Sam Witwer) was only a youngling when Vader invaded his home planet, slaughtered everyone, and took Galen Marek to train as his secret apprentice. It was so secretive that even the Emperor didn’t know.
As the first game progresses, Galen turns to the light side and turns on Vader. The second game follows a similar formula except for Galen in the second game is a clone as the original is killed by Vader and Palpatine.
Starkiller is known for how overpowered he is. He had the ability to pull a Star Destroyer down using only the force. He almost defeated both Vader and Palpatine as well. People believe that Starkiller couldn’t be brought into live-action as a result of how overpowered he is but this is Star Wars after all.
Obi-Wan, only just regaining his focus back in his Disney+ series was able to defeat a prime Darth Vader. Mace Windu manhandled Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith albeit if it was a ploy by Sidious to make Anakin feel sorry for him.
The thing is, it doesn’t matter. There has been overpowered Jedi and Sith in the past in both Legends and Canon and due to how the universe works, there is always going to be another overpowered character created.
In the current Canon universe, Starkiller technically doesn’t exist and only exists in Legends. However, that seemingly has changed over the last couple of years.
Why? Let me explain.
It is widely believed in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series when Kenobi is looking at all of the lightsabers, Galen’s saber is there. It is also further believed in Andor, his armor is situated there.
So, are these just nods to Starkiller or does this mean Starkiller does exist in the Canon? Who knows. One thing we do know for sure is showrunners and Directors seem to love turning the Legends aspect into Canon, especially lately.
Boba Fett, force healing, Dathomir, Mandalore, Thrawn, and many other aspects have gone from Legends to Canon. Starkiller’s teases seem to be going the same way but can they pull the trigger on him?
I mean, it’s possible. Sam Witwer isn’t just a voice actor, he’s done live-action work before and done it well. He’s also only 45 years old so it is possible for him to show up as Galen in a live-action project. We also need to realize that Galen was only 20 in the first game which took place in 2 BBY. This is only 2 years before Luke blows up the Death Star. This could also mean Sam’s age would align perfectly for him to show up in Ahsoka or even a future Mandalorian episode.
Due to the content at the moment, the timeline of most of the projects aligns perfectly. There are possibilities for him to show up in Andor season 2, Obi-Wan Kenobi if it got another season or they could announce his own show down the line.
The Force Unleashed games came out in 2008 and 2010. They were pretty successful even with the over-the-top story. This could easily be fleshed out to give a smooth live-action story. It would even work for casual fans who have never played the games before.
The Star Wars universe is vast and Starkiller is a character people often like. He’s powerful, fast, agile, and has a good personality for a Sith-turned-Jedi. I’m still holding out for a further Easter Egg in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as around this time, Galen is technically being trained by Darth Vader who has already shown up and made Cal look weak.
