A long-awaited villain is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. James Spader is returning to the universe as the voice of the Age of Ultron villain “Ultron” for the untitled Marvel Studios’ Vision series.
The Vision series is a follow-up series to the acclaimed WandaVision series. Spader first voiced the role in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Paul Bettany is reprising his role as Vision. Who was destroyed by Thanos in Infinity War. In WandaVision, Vision returned via magic and grief but also rebuilt as a white android.
Terry Matalas is the showrunner for the Vision series, which has been referred to as Vision Quest. However, this is not an official title as of yet. The series tackles white Vision’s search for a new purpose in life.
Ultron was created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to act as a defence program but instead turned against humanity. Ultron created Vision but before Vision became conscious, the Avengers took his body.
The series is meant to be the third part of a trilogy that began in WandaVision and continues in Agatha All Along which debuts this September. The new show is reportedly looking to shoot in England in early 2025.
