Keanu Reeves Returning to the “Constantine” DC Role in A Sequel

Back in 2005, DC Comics and Warner Bros. released a supernatural superhero movie titled “Constantine” starring Keanu Reeves as John Constantine. Francis Lawrence directed the film.

To this day, people have consistently spoken about Keanu and how they want him to return to the role of Constantine. It’s a very popular movie with DC fans.

Fast forward to 2022 and reports are coming out that Warner Bros. is bringing Keanu Reeves and Francis Lawrence back for a sequel to the first movie.

Akiva Goldsman will write the screenplay and produce the project through his Weed Road Pictures, alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella.

This is no surprise, as Keanu himself has stated he’d love to return to this role, so why not bring him back? Keanu is widely adored by millions around the world. It will be great for him to return.

17 years ago when the movie was released, it grossed over $200 million at the box office in 2005 on a budget of around $70 – $100 million.

My Thoughts

My thoughts on this are that it’s a fantastic movie, especially for a studio that tends to do the wrong things surrounding their movies and TV shows. Keanu is a fantastic actor and keeps being spoken about on every social media possible. He’s one of my all-time favorite actors. I’ll be interested in this movie.

My only worry is that, while it is very possible that he does a Marvel movie in the future, that this project might hinder those chances going forward.

Fans have been campaigning for Keanu Reeves to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wolverine or Ghost Rider, and, I want him to be Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider, I think it would be insanely great.

Either way, I’m excited to see Keanu return to a superhero role. I guess I’ll need to rewatch the original movie again.
