Legends of Tomorrow “Bay of Squids” Review

Season 6 Episode 4 “In 1962 Cuba, the Legends try to get history back on track when Fidel Castro gets a nuclear warhead.”

What I Liked?

1. Mick steps up and takes control of the mission, they head to Cuba to pick up the alien that took Sara, when they get there, Mick goes and steals a truck and attacks a Russian convoy of trucks, he takes the truck that is carrying a nuclear warhead.

2. The US army is on full alert, they show President John F. Kennedy a picture of the Waverider and then another picture of Nate using his powers. This causes the US president to switch to “DEFCON 3”. One step closer to a nuclear war.

3. Ava tries to kidnap Kayla the Alien, but it awakens and throws Ava into a wall then goes to attack her until Spooner and Mick show up with Mick blasting the alien with his heat gun. The dynamic between Mick and Spooner was great this episode.

What I Disliked?

1. Behrad gets Fidel Castro high on gummies. He plays him some music and ends up messing up with Castro eventually setting of a missile headed straight for the White House. While Nate and Zari are in the White House they come up with a plan to stop a US agent from manipulating JFK to setting off a nuke as well, they end up playing American Football? The nuke has seconds before it hits the White House, a soldier runs out and tries to shoot it but it just lands on top of him and doesn’t explode?

2. Was this meant to be Dominic Purcell’s exit from the series? If so it was a bad way to go out, I thought with him being a fan-favorite character that he would have some great exit like previous members of the team.

3. No Constantine, no Sara, No Gary at all in this episode? Where were Sara and Gary? Where did Constantine go? A lot of missing characters and no explanation whatsoever.

Favorite Moment

Mick and Spooner speak with Kayla the alien, they come to an agreement, Mick and Kayla take the waverider and go into deep space to look for Sara, Mick and Kayla are on the ship with Mick laying down his rules, he then gets surprised when Kayla reveals her “human form”.

Standout Character

Mick, once again, stood up and took the lead and got the alien like he said all along.

The Verdict

Overall a better episode than the previous 3 episodes. The stuff between JFK/Cuba/Nukes is always an interesting topic so whenever that makes an appearance in any show I’m invested. Was this Dominic Purcell’s exit from the series? We finally got to see Kayla take her human form which was nice to see.

Rating: 6.3/10
