Legends of Tomorrow “Freaks and Geeks” Review

Season 5 Episode 12 “The team find themselves going back to college and forming a sorority in order to try to retrieve an ancient artifact; Nate falls under Dion’s spell, letting him know of Sara, Astra, Ava and Charlie’s plan to get the cup.”

What I Liked

1. “Shotgun Nate”. Nate returned to his old college and is reminded of a person he once was, Shotgun Nate. As Nate struggles with the fact he is getting older and tries to resist the urge of reliving his college days, he does not have to resist for long. Nate falls under Dion’s spell (Greek god Dionysus) which makes him believe he is actually a college student and of course makes him behave like one, which was quite entertaining for us viewers.

2. Mick and Lita are touring the school and It’s nice to see this father and daughter relationship form, especially coming from Mick. Mick has come such a long way from when this show first started, It’s so nice to see this side to him as he was once a very guarded person.

What I Disliked

1. Astras attitude was quite a dampener on the show, up until around 3/4 of the way in. Don’t get me wrong I understand where the bitterness has come from but after a little while, it became quite irritating. The legends were trying to help her but it felt like she did not want to be helped.

2. When this show started I loved the way it focused on each character and their abilities. Now I haven’t watched Legends in a while and I don’t know if all episodes are like this, but I was looking forward to seeing what everyone’s abilities were as there is a few of the cast who I haven’t seen onscreen as of yet. This ended up quite disappointing as nobody showed any of their abilities.

Favourite Moment

The scene between Mick and Lita, they are stood outside the school Lita wishes to attend. As they show you the building the name of the school is shown as “Rory Hall”. Mick then explains he went back in time and donated to the school, and now she should not have a problem getting in. Lita then goes on to say she didn’t need a building, just for him to be there. This truly is a lovely relationship and is showing us a very different side to Mick.

Standout Character

Mick takes the standout character for me this week. Simply because it was so heartwarming to see this side to mick. He really has shown all viewers that he deserves the title of a Legend.

Verdict

Apart from the scenes involving Mick, Lita and of course “Shotgun Nate” I found this episode to be quite boring. I mean they basically had to throw a party in order to get the chalice. I feel like this story could’ve been done better.

Rating 7.5/10
