Legends of Tomorrow “Knocked Down, Knocked Up” Review

Season 7 Episode 13 – “Gideon is horrified when AI Gideon tells her about Gary; the Legends realize that Gwyn has broken the treaty; Sara keeps an important secret from Ava because she doesn’t know how she will react.”

Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain major spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode we would recommend that you click off the article, and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. Gwyn tries to save his boyfriend from dying in the war, so he goes back to try to save him and ends up dying because it’s a fixed point. I only liked this point because it’s such a great shot by the person watching over this fixed point.

2. Spooner, Gideon, and Astra try to survive on the Waverider from an android Gideon. The scene where Spooner begins shooting the android Gideon was actually really good visually. I have to give props to this.

3. The Waverider explodes in the temporal zone and we finally get to see Astra “level up” when she protects Gideon, Spooner, and herself from the explosion as well as fixing the ship. Another really cool scene.

4. Hopefully with the introduction to Booster Gold (although a few seasons late), his introduction can change the series going forward. As somewhat a comedic character, I do hope he can bring the seriousness back to the series with how this episode ended.

What I Disliked

1. The direction they are going with the character of Sara Lance is so far gone that it is hard to even recognize her as this once great assassin. I feel like this character “development” is beyond a joke now, I truly dislike it.

2. While I love the heroics from Nate in this episode. Where we finally get to witness him using his metal powers, he runs through mustard gas which corrodes his skin and he loses his powers. This is the end of the road for Nate. I dislike this exit so much.

Favourite Moment

My favorite moment was the debut of Booster Gold, he essentially froze time to play a round of golf in the middle of a war. Truly nailed the persona of Booster Gold. Booster Gold steals the Waverider and drops a bomb on the time machine. I already like this character.

Standout Character

Honestly, even though it was his exit, I’d give this to Nate. Sacrificed his powers to save someone in a war, run them through no man’s land, and even ran through mustard gas which caused him to lose his powers.

Verdict

For a finale, the story and some characters didn’t do anything for me at all. Sara and Ava’s baby story was lackluster, felt forced, and just took away from the overall story, especially for a finale. Nate’s exit was underwhelming but I feel as though the writers didn’t know what to do with him at all, and it’s been like this for a season or two. The action truly saved this finale although, had a similar vibe to season 2’s finale.
