Legends of Tomorrow “The Need for Speed” Review

Season 7 Episode 2 “The Legends contemplate how to get to New York City, Behrad discovers Hoover has train tickets to DC, and Sara and Ava come up with a plan. With the help of Gary, Nate will have to impersonate Hoover.”

What I Liked?

1. Right away, I love Nate’s reaction to killing such an important historic figure, not only in his life but in American History in J.Edgar Hoover. This went against everything Nate’s life has done from preserving the historic events, he felt like he ruined it but one simple mistake. You honestly felt truly bad for Nate in this scene.

2. This next point was also about Nate. Because of his knowledge and history of studying people like J.Edgar Hoover, this helped Nate portray Hoover on the train and fool many people on the train. He was made for it, you could say this was one of his superpowers which I agree. He knew everything about Hoover so it made him dive into the character so much.

What I disliked?

1. The “gummies” and “weed” stuff. It’s honestly so annoying and overdone at this point. Like yes, it was funny the first couple of times, but it’s near enough every single episode that they force the viewers the gummies and drug jokes and usage. It’s repetitive, annoying, and beyond dumb at this point.

2. While Nate did have a truly great episode for him. It’s still not helping that we can not even get to see his powers be put to the test. It’s like they are willingly using the budget for really stupid stuff instead of character superpowers and abilities. So annoying.

Favorite Moment

When Nate is standing up to the gangsters waiting to kidnap Hoover, they are shocked to find an alive Hoover arriving onto the scene. This “Hoover” begins taking down the gangsters set to kidnap him. Sara takes a bottle and takes down Hoover and pulls a piece of glass out of his neck to reveal that this Hoover is really an android who self-destructs.

Standout Character

Nate. I absolutely loved that he put his heart on his shoulders at the beginning and slowly gained some much-needed character development throughout the episode.

The Verdict

Honestly, story-wise, it wasn’t a memorable episode by any means. I did enjoy the Nate storyline but that’s about it. The reveal of the android at the end was dumb, it was done badly and the VFX on it was horrible. The story was subpar, the action only had a few seconds of it. The character development for Nate was great.
