Loki “1893” Review

Season 2 Episode 3 – Loki & Mobius go on the hunt to find everyone’s favorite cartoon clock as they try to save the TVA.

What I Liked

1. Ravonna goes back in time to deliver a package to Miss Minutes, the cartoon clock. The clock states the person who needs the package is dead, but if she delivers the package to him at this exact moment in time they can change that and be by his side. I’m guessing this means we will be seeing some version of Kang in this episode!

2. Loki and Mobius head back to find Ravonna and the clock. Due to the time they were in Odin was a big part of religion and they came across a huge display worshipping Odin, Thor, and Balder but no Loki. The look on his face and his response were brilliant, exactly the type of reaction you’d expect Loki to have at that moment.

3. Loki and Mobius stumble across “Victor Timely”, a variant of Kang in the past. I think this moment was so important because we saw just how much Loki feared him.

4. An interesting moment as Loki is faced with Sylvie but once again they’re in a disagreement. Sylvie wants the variant of Kang dead while Loki pleads with her otherwise life as they know it will be gone without his help. I still love seeing this, seeing Loki care about other people other than himself.

5. Just a short one but I love seeing Loki using his magic for mischievous tricks again!

6. After he casts Ravonna aside and chooses to work with Miss Minutes we begin to see a very sadistic side to the clock. She wants a body, honestly, I wouldn’t be mad at the idea, the clock is terrifying I’d love to see what she could do as a person.

7. Ravonna completely loses the plot and is ready to kill Victor if he doesn’t do as she says and comes back to the TVA with her. Loki and Mobius are unable to talk her down but Sylvie of course makes her appearance. This part of the episode surprised me as Sylvie is unable to kill Victor and as he pleads for his life, she lets him go.

What I Disliked

1. Slightly better towards the end of the episode for Sylvie but still nowhere near what we got from her in Season One which is pretty disappointing as she played a huge part in making that season amazing.

2. I was expecting quite the fight between Sylvie and Ravonna at the end there, it just felt like a very big moment but was over within a second.

Favorite Moment

Sylvie finally gives Ravona what she wants, a seat at the end of time, and sends her to the moment right after she kills Kang. The literal end of time. I very much doubt this will be the last we see of Ravona as she brings back Miss Minutes who informs her she knows something about her, something that will make her very angry.

Standout Character

It feels slightly strange to write this but my standout character this week probably has to go to Miss Minutes. For a cartoon clock, she is terrifying. I like the idea of her getting a body because I think she could bring even more chaos.

Verdict

A great episode this week, we finally had Kang, or at least a version of him back on our screens. I’m still hoping for character improvement for Sylvie but other than that it was fun to watch as they headed back in time to find Miss Minutes but stumbled across much more than that.
