Marvel’s Avengers released an article explaining and announcing delays as well as what is in the works in the background, what they are working on to fix as well as adding to the game already.
They also wrote a small letter to the community of players for sticking with the game as well as people who have loved the campaign as well as multiplayer. They also revealed some “free compensation” which is actually decent.
We got 1500 credits which allow you to buy a legendary skin as well as a nameplate in the marketplace. We got 7000 units for in-game marketplaces, 250 upgrade modules (which is highly needed), 20 DNA Keys as well as a nameplate.
With this announcement, they also announced a couple of new features that will arrive in the game in the coming months like a ping system in-game, an high contrast mode, Hero icon visibility, mission reward clarity, offscreen & ranged enemy attack indicators, and probably the best feature (which we asked for) is the ability to replay the campaign story with your leveled up heroes.
They also announced the 4 main things they are focusing on improving, performance and stability, multiplayer/matchmaking, Rewards, and finally late-game content. I agree that these 4 things are the key things that need focus and I can not wait to see what they change with it.
They’ve also said that in the coming weeks they’ll add in “Omega-level threats” for late-game players like myself, which will need skill and coordination in the squad you play with. This is huge as the villains/enemies are pretty stale at the minute.
Now, Kate Bishop, who was slated to be the first DLC character to be added to the game was stated to be releasing this month (October), however, the devs have decided to delay her release because they want the quality of the DLC to be even better and perfect for her release.
They’ve said her operation is a “must-play” operation which gives me hope that it will be good. They’ve also stated that their biggest Avengers Initiative addition yet will introduce a new Hero, region, and narrative arc will come in 2021, This could be either Black Panther, Spider-Man, or Captain Marvel.
They’ve also sadly delayed the release of their free upgrade to PS5 and next-gen consoles until 2021 as well to ensure that we give our team the time to deliver a next-gen experience showcasing all that this game is meant to be. More details to come.
They’ve also quoted “Until then, however, you’ll be able to continue playing the current-gen (PS4/Xbox One) Marvel’s Avengers game on next-gen platforms to take advantage of their powerful hardware, be it via inserting a physical disk or redownloading the game. Two of the most obvious benefits of this are improved frame rates and faster loading times. In addition, players who make the jump to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will still be able to play co-op with their friends on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively as well as carry their existing save-game forward to the next-generation of consoles!”
While many may see these delays as a bad move on the part of the devs that’s not actually the case, If this gives us better quality gameplay on new-gen consoles, better quality DLC then I’m completely fine with it.
I’m also very happy that they are actually listening to players and working on a fix for stuff right away, other game devs don’t do this, Call of Duty is an example, it’s nearly the release of the next Call of Duty game and their previous one is still riddled with cheaters and hackers.
So I will give Crystal Dynamics/Square Enix props for their quick fixes and that they actually give us some type of road map for the future.
