From the very beginning, the very first trailer, the game was ambushed by fans for looking ridiculous. I was in that bracket as well, I will admit that. I genuinely said a lot of the character designs just looked like potatoes, and PS2 games looked better.
My best friend was an avid fan of the idea even before the trailer, so he constantly defended the game. I appreciated that. The game was running on pre-alpha when the initial trailer dropped.

Square Enix immediately took the feedback on board, which again, I appreciated. They delayed the game and worked on the character models to ensure they were of the best quality going forward.
The second trailers dropped and I was extremely impressed. Whilst graphically it’s not 10/10, but for me, it’s not just about the graphics. The story, gameplay, mechanics, customisation, upgrades all also play a part for me to enjoy a game.
The game has announced we will have access to multiple different suits and outfits for each character. Even showcasing some of the Iron Man suits. The game is now in a much better light than it was from the first reveal.
You can see the details here;
The problem is, people are still not on board with it. Whenever we release anything to do with the game on our page, we get comments smashing the game, you can already tell the reputation of the game is tarnished. Even if the game is in a much better state.
One thing that actually surprisingly STILL brings in complaints is the character models themselves. People somehow, someway expect the Marvel Cinematic Universe versions of the characters – which is just NOT possible.
Can you imagine the budget required to bring in Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo etc? It’s just not feasible. To be honest, we have to give props to Square Enix for taking their own initiative and creating their own universe in videogames.
Nobody expected Tom Holland to be the character model for Spider-Man in the Insomniac game, so why should this game be any different?
The story looks great. It focuses on Ms Marvel mainly, a hero already announced to receive her own Disney+ show. The story also looks at the Avengers collapsing due to A-Day, an event we are going to see inside. Captain America is dead, the Avengers are dismantled and pretty much in hiding. Kamala Khan brings them back together to prove their innocence, and fight against the injustices that have happened.
Here’s the story trailer;
The game will have coop, so you can suit up with your friends and pick your favourite Avenger to fight with – it really doesn’t get better than that.
I believe in giving any game a chance first. I know trailers are a first look for judgement, and I’m the first to admit I fell short and had my shots at the game, but I realise by my friend that I’m part of the problem.
Square Enix are doing everything they can to ensure the game is a success. There isn’t many game developers out there anymore that really listen to the fans, Square Enix is one that does. Just look at the magic they did with the Final Fantasy remake? They have the potential to do the game justice, and I’m happy with that.
After realising my mistake in pre-judging, I pre-ordered the game, listened to a few people, watched a few videos and actually started to get excited. I truly believe the game is going to be a huge success. We need to start looking into the positives from the game, instead of a pre-alpha trailer that has been worked on massively since.
