Some exciting news was dropped last night from Marvel, especially with phase 4. Personally, one announcement truly threw me over the edge, and that was Blade.
It’s been 15 years since we saw the famous vampire don the long black leather coat and destroy some vampires. It’s a moment we have all been waiting for. Most of us thought he would be a TV show hero and show up in Agents of SHIELD. I never expected this.
Here is some FAQs that we know so far – it isn’t much, but we will do our best to ensure we get the most accurate information.
Who is set and cast to play Blade?
Mahershala Ali. You may recognize him from Luke Cage who famously played Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes.
When will the movie be released?
In terms of dates, Marvel only announced up until November 2021, with potentially more dates being added in that timeline. You can see below exactly what dates have been announced so far. If this is set in stone, my money would be on an early 2022 release.
What happened to Wesley Snipes?
Wesley Snipes has always been high on the wish list for a return to Blade, but Marvel wanted a reboot. Wesley is 56 and Mahershala is 45, so I don’t think it’s down to age. I just think Marvel wants to restart the project.
Will this version of Blade be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Every announcement from Marvel, including the TV shows will be part of the MCU going forward, and if there is a new Avengers movie announced, it’s a safe bet Blade will be included.
Is it a TV show or a movie?
It’s a feature movie, so it will be shown in theaters worldwide.
I’m not sure if Mahershala would make a good Blade, I think Wesley would be the better fit still?
As of right now, the movie has only just cast so development is still in the very early stages. BossLogic Inc did create a concept that you can see for now. I’m sure he will do incredible, especially when we eventually get the teaser trailers.
Do we have a villain announcement yet?
We don’t as the movie is still in very early stages of development. I’m sure as time goes we will find out more information, including the plot.
So there you have it. There is not much to go on as of yet, but the announcement was a huge one with the fans at SDCC. What is your thoughts on this?
