A report coming from The Illeuminerdi has revealed that a Silk TV series is coming to Amazon Prime and is in the early stages of development at Sony Pictures TV.
The lead role has been described as Korean-American, between the ages of 19 and 29 years old, a kid from Queens who is on her own for the first time. Although she’s a beginner in law enforcement and fighting crime, she’s described as “loving the feeling of beating up criminals to let her frustrations out” and loves the ’80s and ’90s pop culture.
It is also revealed that she also struggles with her identity and heritage while trying to focus on her family, friends, and relationships.
Sang Kyu Kim is locked as the showrunner and executive producer for Silk. It will also be produced by Sony mainstays Chris Miller and Phil Lord. IT’s also said that the duo has met with Adeline Rudolph which is likely to be for the lead role with no other talks or confirmations about additional castings.
Sony is very set on creating the “Sonyverse” with many Spider-Men characters and villains, bringing Silk to live-action would be a major key in expanding the universe they want especially on a platform as big as Amazon Prime, I mean they have had insane success with The Boys, so I have faith that this will be just as good.
