Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 “The Flame” Quest Sets Up Huge Villain for Potential DLC

I am aware that the game has only been released for five days. It is likely that most of us have completed the main storyline by now. Personally, I played the game non-stop the entire weekend and managed to earn the platinum trophy. However, I am still hungry for more content and am eagerly looking forward to any future updates or expansions that may be released.

If you’re not far into the story, we’d suggest you click off now because this article will contain spoilers.

In The Flame Sidequest, you team up with Yuri to fight against a cult. However, at times, you also find yourself in opposition to her. Towards the end of the questline, the leader of the cult manages to obtain the symbiote and escapes, leaving the story unfinished. This plot becomes even more intriguing as Yuri mentions the name “Cletus Kasady” to Peter over the phone after the events of the quest line. For those who may be unfamiliar with the name or haven’t watched Venom 2, Cletus is the man who allows the symbiote to take him and he becomes Carnage.

It seems highly unlikely that Peter and Miles have gone through so much trouble to defeat Venom and stop the symbiote from taking over the planet, only to let it be stolen by a cult. This scenario could potentially set up either a DLC or the third game. Insomniac is aware of the fact that Carnage is a fan-favorite, so they might use him as a draw for whichever route they decide to take.

In the previous installment of the game, Venom made an appearance, and there was a surprise entrance by Scream, who possessed MJ during the main storyline. This opens up a lot of possibilities for the developers to explore. They could even introduce Carnage along with a few other smaller symbiote villains as a means of setting up Knull in the third installment. Insomniac has set themselves up perfectly regardless of which direction they choose to take.

There is currently no confirmation from the developers about DLC. However, based on the fact that DLC was released for the original Spider-Man game, it is likely that we will see DLC for this game as well.

As we are aware, the developers are planning to release the new game+ feature by the end of this year, which we will receive before anything else. If they follow the same formula as the first game, then we can expect a few new trophies to be added as well.

Spider-Man 2 was one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had. I had an absolute blast playing it and found myself completely engrossed in it over the weekend. Although I’m a bit disappointed that I managed to get the platinum trophy so quickly, the quality of the game was so high that I couldn’t resist playing it non-stop.

I would love to see Carnage more than anything. After the success of Scream and Venom, my hopes are high.
