Season 1 Episode 6 – Back in Jersey, Kamala fights to save her friends from the clutches of Damage Control.

Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain major spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode we would recommend that you click off the article, and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. One of the opening scenes shows us Kamala sitting her family down to tell them she’s the girl with the powers. This is typical fashion for Ms. Marvel as they all knew anyway due to Muneeba. I always love it when a superhero doesn’t bother holding back their true identity from the ones they care about.

2. Kamala’s plan is sheer brilliant. As she plans to stall Damage Control in order to get Kamran to the harbor, I couldn’t help but laugh. Even more so in the science room when the entire room fills with what looks like a huge amount of foam.

3. Kamran loses his mind after he finds out what happened to his mother. Instead of running from Damage Control, he begins to fight back. Kamala tries desperately to save both him and the police he’s almost killing. It’s intense, simply because you have no idea which way it’s going to go. Kamran ultimately fails as he’s taken down by Damage Control but what a scene.

4. It’s now Kamala’s turn to fight back after Kamran is momentarily taken down. We get to see Kamala’s powers in full effect as she takes down the vehicles with the weapons. We see not just the cosmic aspects of her powers but also the stretch aspect too. I loved this. Iman Vellani showed in this scene alone why she was born to play Kamala Khan.

5. After the entire ordeal is finished, Damage Control attempt to arrest Kamala. All of the public who were there after Zoe’s TikTok went out stood around her to protect her from the police. This was a touching scene as it brings Kamala truly into Jersey’s newest superhero.

6. Kamala gets the Ms. Marvel name from her father in a beautiful scene between the pair. Her reaction when she realized she shares the same name as Carol Danvers was amazing. A truly special scene.

7. A cameo from Captain Marvel in the after-credits scene was good, it’s nice to see Brie again. Still, though, I’ve got no idea what the hell just happened so if someone can enlighten me in the comments, that would be great.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report in this episode.

Favourite Moment

The beautiful scene with Kamala and her mom. I’ve been wondering where the suit is considering we’ve seen clips of it, it turns out it was her mom that gave her it. We then get a great montage of her in the suit for the first time and they have done so incredibly well with the suit!

Standout Character

It’s an easy one here, it’s definitely Kamala Khan. I’ve said it from the offset, Iman Vellani is born to play Ms. Marvel, and it showed so much in this episode. From her looking incredible in the suit, to the name finally being attached and the action alongside it. She was phenomenal.

Verdict

A truly magnificent end to what has been an alright series. The finale gave us everything we needed to advance forward with Kamala’s story. I truly enjoyed the episode and everything it had to offer from the story, action, and quality.
