Star Wars is a massive universe spanning over movies, comics, games, animated series, and more recently, live-action tv shows, and they’ve all been great, the content has been fantastic but whenever I speak about the universe, it’s very rare that the conversation goes to “what would you ideal Star Wars movie be?”.
Now, Star Wars is a fantastic universe, and Star Wars is associated with galaxy-wide conflicts, planet-sized battles, and a hell of a lot of death and destruction along with it. When I think about my ideal Star Wars movie which I would like to see, and at this point, you could make it into a standalone series or two.
The Battle of Kashyyyk, also known as The Subjugation of Kashyyyk.
Quick Summary;
This was the first Imperial invasion of the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk in the year 19 BBY as part of the Empire’s Enslavement of Kashyyyk campaign. This occurred after the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader tracked a group of surviving Jedi to the planet.
It was also this crisis that Vader made a deal with Moff Tarkin to capture and enslave Wookiees to help build the Death Star. This battle itself was also seen as an early but by no means the last, demonstration to the galaxy of how the Galactic Empire would respond to internal dissent.
Now, you may read this and think, but the movies would need subtitles for the Wookiees if it’s based on their homeworld, and in a way, I agree, but as soon as in Solo, a human can speak Wookiee, although somewhat rare to see.
You may also ask how would it go about being filmed, and well I have an idea I think could possibly work, but I’m in no way a filmmaker so this is just purely me stating how I would put it together.
Act I
Act I would simply be the first portion of the movie, coming from the perspective of a surviving Jedi, Olee Starstone where we see her survive the events of Order 66 and begin looking for any surviving Jedi in the galaxy where we would see her navigate her way to the planet of Kashyyyk.
She would meet with several remaining Jedi survivors Siadem Forte, Deran Nalual, Klossi Anno, Iwo Kulka, Jambe Lu, and Nam Poorf, as well as slicer Filli Bitters. She would meet with Tarfful and Chewbacca and learn of Yoda’s survival and be given safe harbor on Kashyyyk, however, the group would be interrupted by a troop carrier landing on the planet.
Act II
Act II would simply be the destructive, brutal, bloody, and life or death battle for survival from both Jedi and Wookiees alike. This is also when Darth Vader would make his entrance into the movie, although staying on the Star Destroyer until the third and final act.
Throughout Act II we’d see many deaths and losses, as well as fires, armored vehicles, and destruction all throughout Kashyyyk, but this would be on both sides of the battle, for as many Wookiees are killed, a ton more Stormtroopers are killed.
Act III
Act III would consist of the Empire on the losing side, continuing to make Darth Vader furious on his Star Destroyer to the point he decides to head down to the planet and track the Jedi himself, while Moff Tarkin is focused on enslaving the Wookiees.
The final act would be a massive show of power, strength, and brutality from Darth Vader as he fights the surviving Jedi, This would be a hard fight of survival for the Jedi, but an easy fight for Darth Vader and he quickly dismantles each Jedi.
An alone Olee Starstone is faced with dueling Vader by herself when Vader’s Stormtroopers are gunned down by a smuggler vessel that had arrived, Roan Shryne would make his entrance, quickly dispatching and beheading Appo, one of Darth Vader’s most loyal Stormtroopers. The entrance of Shryne would give Starstone and the other remaining Jedi a chance of escape.
This is when Vader gets a challenge he wants. As the two go head-to-head, Shryne is managing to hold his own against the relentless assault from the crimson blade, however, this is interrupted by an Imperial Orbital Bombardment.
Starstone would load up her ship with escaping Wookiees, including fan-favorite Chewbacca. While the duel between Vader and Shryne gets more intense the longer it goes on, the more brutal it becomes. Shryne learns that Vader’s chest-mounted control panel is key and begins to aim for it.
This leads Vader into using a defensive fighting technique as well as using the Force to assault the surviving Jedi. Vader managing to knock Shryne off a platform, falling to the floor, and getting critically injured, Vader knowing that Shryne would die anyways from his injures, decides against striking down the Jedi, but instead revealing his true identity as the one great Jedi, Anakin Skywalker.
After this, you could do a post-credit tease with the second invasion of Kashyyyk, bringing Kento Marek into live-action as he hid on Kashyyyk, which resulted in the Empire launching a second Imperial invasion onto the already destroyed planet.
I think this would be such a great movie to see in live-action form, as not only is the action, the battle, and the characters important to Star Wars, it also shows that around this time in the Star Wars timeline, Anakin was still somewhat there as he decided to tell a dying Jedi his true name, while we’ve seen Vader kill his own Stormtroopers for finding out his name or calling and thinking he is a Jedi.
Plus not to mention that the excitement and the pushing of great Wookiee-related characters such as Chewbacca and Krrsantant becoming more and more popular by the day.
This alone would surpass any brutal scene we have seen from Vader, as when we’ve seen him, he hasn’t unleashed his true power, apart from the Rogue One scene. I truly hope we get to see that at some point.
