Season 1 Episode 6 – The tension between Nathan and Anthony escalates when Anthony feels the homecoming tradition is being disrespected by a military kid; Naomi discovers a potential new source of information; Zumbado has a run-in with Greg and Jennifer.

What I Liked
1. As Naomi goes to visit Doctor Bell so she can analyze part of a spaceship, Dr. Bell makes it known that she is aware Naomi is not from this world and is able to detect mass amounts of energy coming from her. She’s able to help her control her powers even just for a brief moment but it was a decent scene. I do have to admit I’m quite intrigued by Dee’s quest to find his wife. I do believe she’s alive but we’re meeting quite a few interesting characters along the way as he tries to find answers.
2. Intense scenes followed after Zumbadu breaks into Naomi’s house and confronts her parents! They definitely seem fearful of him, but it is ridiculous they chose not to listen after being told their daughter is in danger.
3. What an amazing scene from Dee in that bar. That fight scene was incredible and he didn’t struggle for a single second throughout. It was also very interesting when the bartender said “you know the rules, skills only” as it does give us an idea as to why he’s been teaching Naomi to use her skills first, before her powers.
4. While it was irritating that Naomi didn’t even slightly get the upper hand throughout her confrontation with Zumbadu, it did give us a good idea of how powerful Zumbadu is. Like the guy didn’t even flinch throughout.
What I Disliked
1. “Stay away from Zumbadu he’s dangerous” GREAT can you tell us why? Again with unanswered questions, come on man, if he’s dangerous that’s fine just tell me why he’s dangerous, what does he want, how do you know he’s dangerous did he do something to you personally? Honestly man.
2. Although the scene of Zumbadu breaking into Naomis is on our likes unfortunately it also has to land itself in the dislike portion of our review as well. While the scene was intense and gave us a good idea that there is a long history there, why couldn’t Zumbadu have explained more for the viewers? Like who is after Naomi and why. This would’ve been a perfect time to answer that.
3. Anthony and Nathan trying to figure out who damaged Anthony’s art project is just a huge waste of time throughout this episode. There are a lot of things that still need to be covered, we don’t need to be wasting time with side stories throughout the episodes.
Favourite Moment
I absolutely loved that ending, I knew there had to be something more to Zumbadu than what was being let on. He’s been one of the more intriguing characters throughout this series but after Naomi realized Dr. Bell is not who she says she is, he comes to her rescue. The entire nature of this scene was really moving as you did see he wanted to protect her as he carries her out in his arms. I hope next week can follow on from where they’ve just left off.
Standout Character
This is one of the tougher weeks to decide but I have to give it to Dee, this week he had the most interesting ark, and plus we got a really good fight scene in the bar, something that’s been missing from the show so far.
Verdict
What a turnaround, this was a MUCH better episode than last week. This is where the potential is realized more than ever, if they stick with this moving forward then I see no reason as to why the show can’t go through the final half on a strong part.
