Naomi “Rocky Ridge” Review

Season 1 Episode 5 – With Naomi still shaken by her terrifying encounter with the bounty hunter, Dee continues training her on controlling her thoughts and emotions and, therefore, her powers; the class sets off on an exciting week-long camping excursion.

What I Liked

Dee and Zumbado have been working throughout this episode to find out who sent The Bounty Hunter that attacked Naomi in the previous episode. The unlikely duo actually kind of worked for me. Another thing to take note of from this is after capturing him, they sent him off to The Phantom Zone. This was the ONLY good thing about this episode.

What I Disliked

1. Fifteen minutes in and I am ridiculously bored. This episode has completely spiraled off-topic and is now focusing on something that has no relevance to the story we have been following so far.

2. Can someone please explain to me what that sound effect was when Nathan ate that cookie? My god man.

3. Nathan and Naomi have been together for not even an entire episode and I’m so not here for it. I don’t mind relationships in any series but it’s more laughable than anything. 3 people are currently in love with her, Nathan’s done nothing but whinge since getting back with her, Anthony is constantly radiating a creepy jealous vibe around her, and then you’ve got Lourdes who just reappears every once in a while to also express her fancying towards Naomi, it’s just ridiculous.

4. This show has had very slow progress in regards to answering the viewers questions. Honestly I’m not sure I know much more than what I knew in the first episode.

5. Ooooo we got a bit of action, oh no wait we didn’t. So close. That scene from Naomi and Councillor Jeff was predictable and embarrassing. One strike and it was done just like that? She wins? Oh and the CGI couldn’t have been worse.

I was close to turning Naomi off to watch 22 Jump Street once Councillor Jeff’s name was revealed because I was so bored.

Favourite Moment

There is not a single moment that stood out in this episode for me. This episode has been the worst yet, the characters have not been interesting, their stories have not been interesting and I’ve just spent 45 minutes of my life watching an episode surrounding something that is completely irrelevant to the actual story of Naomi. It’s rare that we are not able to choose a favorite moment from any of our shows, but this week certainly made the cut.

Standout Character

Honestly, I’m going to save myself the hassle and just class this week’s standout as Dee and Zumbado purely because they actually remained on track with the story we have been watching so far, unlike any of the other characters.

Verdict

We pretty much know nothing more than what we did in the first episode of this show. What does the disk do? Where is Naomi from? Why do people want her dead? Where is Dee from? Why was she sent to earth? We know none of this. What we do know is she’s an Alien, which we knew in the first episode, and it’s all we really know now.
